Class of 2019 (the journey begins) - Sharing,Venting, Etc

One thing I will say: the FAFSA was a LOT easier than I was expecting! I’m always terrified of anything to do with complicated forms or procedures or finances. I thought it was going to be super-complicated. But it was just a few simple questions, and I was able to use last year’s return as an estimate (and they even made it easier by saying “Such-and-such figure is on line 23 of your tax return.”) I mean, they made it really easy and moron-proof, which I definitely appreciated!

Yes @actorparent I was pleasantly surprised as well! Thanks again @‌vocal1046

The Non Custodial Parent Profile is usually requested by the schools that also use the CSS Profile in addition to the FAFSA. Love the FAFSA because it’s 1. a whole lot easier than it once was and 2. WAAAAAY easier and less time consuming than the CSS Profile!! And if the non custodial parent is not involved, be prepared to show some sort of proof so that the profile requirement is waived.

Best thing to do if you have a parent who is not involved mark “sperm donor”

Happy New Year to everyone. I just wanted to say that I am thankful for the support of this great community through this grueling process. Right now, the waiting for the next round of auditions is torture. Looking forward to February when there will be more action! Deep breaths, everyone and hang in there!

Happy New Year @‌Divamamacita and all! Question for vets… How soon after Unifieds do the kids get notified yay or nay? I assume it is different will all schools, but do u have approximates?

Hmmm, CCM was the following Tuesday (a no–so maybe the redirections are more immediate) and Ithaca came in late February (a no). Other than that the notifications came in March. There was a WHOLE LOTTA WAITING!

You are right that was different for different schools. Ithaca was quick if you were not in the “pool”, a friend of my D’s got her “no thanks” less than a week after unifieds. Kids they held onto longer waited. (D’s status changed mid march) Schools that had callback weekends (U MInn and Rutgers) were within a couple weeks too. But for other schools that are not rolling you wait until March/April notifications…

Thanks @GSOMTMom!! I figured as much, but thought I’d ask

It is different for different schools - Texas State was the most responsive -letting unified auditioners know if they were rejected or on priority hold within about 48 hours of the audition… then after all auditions were done - they were quick to make offers, and create the wait list - and release anyone from priority hold who was no longer in consideration. My D was one of the Ithaca kids who must have remained in the “pool” because we didn’t get that no until almost April… and it was the last decision to finally come in. Most decisions came in late March/early April.

Thanks @kategrizz‌

I know there are a few schools that wait to the end of auditions (and please correct me if I am wrong): Michigan, NYU, for example. But who else might give a (artistic) Yes before all auditions are complete? I know CCM, amd apparently Ithaca? Or do they only give early no’s. A list would be nice! Keep adding those who know. (I know this info can be unearthed elsewhere, but it would be nice to have in one place. Together with dates! If you know. ) Should we start a thread?

Rolling:
CCM
Baldwin Wallace? Though I think those auditioning now will wait till March?
OCU
Ithaca?
Indiana
Wright State

At Conclusion of All Auditions:
NYU
Michigan
CMU
Pace

BW will wait until March for those that audition now.
At conclusion JMU, PSU, Syracuse (decisions sent out in waves on Fridays over a 3-4 week time frame), Wagner
Shenandoah - offers were made day of auditions and shortly after - for most the decisions will be after auditions but a select few were chosen up front.
Rolling - Hartt? (or at minimum early auditionees hear early), same for Marymount?, Rider?, Temple?

Syracuse has a bizarre wave thing, where they send out acceptances/denials/waitlists on consecutive Friday afternoons starting in March (and sometimes going into April). They say that it makes no difference which wave you’re in.

CCPA is all at once, relatively late (like past the middle of March).

We heard from Savannah College for Art and Design a couple of weeks after Unifieds (a yes).

That’s all I’ve got.

Montclair is rolling…

Rider is going to wait a bit longer this year. I think they may have had an admission Snafu or something last year. Whatever the reason, they are apparently waiting until late January/early February for their first wave of decisions. I know people in consideration after moonifieds were put into a “pool”. Don’t know if “everyone” who was an academic admit is in that pool or if they did some culling at that point. I tend to think everyone is in consideration. Maybe someone else can shed light.

Point Park says they’re rolling. But people who auditioned in nov-dec will find out jan 15th. Unifieds and spring dates will find out mid march.

As far as the question about Ithaca, I know in the past that some acceptances are rolling, but some are at the end of the process. When my D auditioned at the end of January, she got her acceptance two weeks later. I still recall as it was her first acceptance.

Also, at Michigan, unless something has changed, you can get rejections on a rolling basis.

Otterbein will release applicants from the December audition date; the remaining are in consideration until March.

Don’t forget about EA decisions in December from Emerson, Elon, maybe others.

Also UArts in the fall.
