I would like to join. My daughter will be going to NYC for MT this year. I clicked join group on FB. Thank you!
I believe the Troupe is not letting parents join…they want a place just for the kids to share their experiences & blow off steam…at least that’s what I read in an earlier thread.
Yes my daughter is now a member. Lot’s of great information for her and now she feels like she is not alone in this crazy process. Glad they have it. Good Luck to Everyone we will go through this next year and feel better prepared knowing we have lots of people that have experience with this. Thanks!
@Momofseniors - The Troupe is only for students, a dedicated place just for them, as they know most parents use CC.
@destiny95, you should probably call Emerson.
For the Juniors, there will also be a new facebook group created (with a different name) for the Class of 2021 probably by summer. My S is Class of 2020, but he is also a member of the 2018 and 2019 groups. Its great for the younger kids to see what’s coming, but also great for the older kids to answer questions, etc.
I understand
Would someone be willing to add my daughter to the troupe on Facebook?
@ldunk99 she just needs to find the group and hit join – that will lead her to a request and she will get approved.
We are still waiting on MSU too.
Might have just gotten accepted to the BM MT at JMU. The letter said my accepted area was “Voice” but did not mention MT, though I believe the BM MT is sort of like a concentration within the Voice major. Emailed admissions and am waiting for an answer…Trying very hard not to get excited until it is confirmed
Did anyone else apply for the BM at JMU?
I could be wrong but I don’t think there is a BM MT at JMU. I think the MT program is a BA.
I think I am wrong - haha
@Raam1012 There is both but they are in separate schools so I totally see the confusion The BM is housed in the School of Music, while the BA is housed in the School of Theatre and Dance
Hartt letters still en route…
@gmo913 – you are correct, the BM MT is an emphasis within the voice area in the School of Music. All music majors with voice as their primary instrument follow a similar course of study the freshman year, and then, at the end of freshman jury the student formally declare their emphasis in VP, MT, Music Industry, or (I think) Music Education (although that may happen sooner). Some students also choose to change emphasis later, and it is not too hard to do because there is quite a bit of cross over between the different vocal emphasis areas in the School of Music. If the letter is from the School of Music, it is a very good sign that you have been accepted to the Music Major. Did the letter contain the name of a contact person in the School of Music to communicate with? I am the Coordinator for the BA Musical Theatre Major in the School of Theatre and Dance, but work wit students and faculty in the BM program. Feel free to PM me, and I am happy to try to put you in contact with someone in music.
Okay, so did a campus tour of an accepted school yesterday and finally heard from my very last school in the same day! Fairly good news (redirect from BFA MT to BFA Acting)! I’m glad the waiting is over, and thankful I’m not dealing with waitlists.
@monkey13 I saw this article on the “Golden Ticket” I thought of your post. You’re not the only who compares it to Willy Wonka. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bryan-behar/who-cares-where-your-kid-goes-for-college_b_9554668.html
LOL, @Autmlvs615 I JUST read it on another board!
Loved the article - nearly spit out my coffee several times. He writes “real good”.
