Class of 2020 (sharing, venting, etc)

@soozievt - Looks like a good old-fashioned ‘clerical error’ with a nice apology note :0). (Since my D announced to the world where she was committing yesterday and we put down a deposit…it wouldn’t have mattered.) She remains grateful for her experience there last summer! Thanks & I’ll work on our decision story soon!

March 5th. Only heard because I emailed. Never received anything in the mail.

So many people making final decisions! Exciting

Add us to the “final decisions” list! S will be going to University of Northern Colorado.

Congrats everyone! D just put her deposit in at Hartt!!So excited and relieved to be moving to next steps! Now time to enjoy these last weeks of senior year. These kids (and parents) have had quite the adventurous year! Not soon to be forgotten.

@mtmomofone my D. visited Hartt this week and had a great visit. The only thing that’s keeping her from committing at this point is the BoCo waitlist. Congrats on being finished!

Hoping they will be classmates @Fotokat But most importantly, that you all come to the best decision for her! Take care and keep us posted.

@mtmomofone @Fotokat heading home from Hartt today. It’s a done deal, my D will be class of 2020 too. Can’t believe this crazy ride is over.

Congrats to all who have committed–can’t wait to follow your journeys!

Does the new discrimination law that was just passed in NC affect anyone’s decision on schools?

Congrats to all about making those final decision, but an especially big, warm welcome to the Hartt family for @mtmomofone and @Murrrrb (and maybe @Fotokat too). If you have any questions now that you are committed Hawks, just ask! I am happy to help in any way I can.

@bisouu I was worried it would change my daughters mind. She is pretty liberal and an advocate for all human rights. She realized UNCSA campus is its own environment and she isn’t planning on living in NC after college. She isn’t happy about the decision though. I can see her protesting once there. Actor and activist!

Theater and civil rights activism have a long entwined history. An acting major at Wright State was arrested at the Trump rally in Dayton last month. And the beat goes on. La, de, da, de, dee. La, de, da, de di. . .

Stephen Schwartz is banning his shows from North Carolina. I’m not sure if that’ll include colleges too.

D is performing in a show and doing a master class with Stephen Schwartz next month. She is interested in chatting w him about the decision. She is a strong supporter of equal rights!

Yay! Thanks @gingersnap97! And excited for your d @Murrrrb! So great to hear!

Would be interesting to hear from him on the issue. It may only punish North Carolina theatre people again along with the law that was passed. I can’t imagine that a politician there cares about being able to do pippin. He might not be hitting the right target with his ban. But, still good for him to use his power to make a statement.

I expect that Bruce Springsteen cancelling his Greensboro concert will bring more attention to the issue. So perhaps Schwartz just started the ball rolling. Proud to be an MT-fan!

yes, congrats @Murrrrb - that is very exciting.

and @mom4bwayboy -that will totally be my daughter (like the student at Wright State). I just hope no arrests are involved. And I am a supporter of those pulling shows and services to show how wrong the new law in NC is. I hope it does some good and makes a strong point. Paypal and other companies are pulling or reducing services in the state. It is actually a struggle that D’s top choice college is there. Not trying to make light of the issue, so I hope nobody thought that (upon re-reading my post I can see it may look that way). It is very serious indeed.

I wonder how anyone else is feeling that may be heading to NC in the fall. Any Elon students?

As someone who lives in NC I am interested to see if it does impact anyone. It is a disgusting law and an embarrassment to our state.
