Does anyone know if there are any threads dedicated to complaints about MT programs? I know that sounds negative…I just want to get a full picture of our daughter’s top choices and sometimes hearing what people don’t like about a particular program can bring things into focus that we might not be thinking about. Thank you!
My D had her final audition today. Great experience at Rowan University. She’s also enjoyed her time at Fairleigh Dickinson and Saint Joseph’s University. We just might hear about all three and even Emory & Henry this week and finally be able to enter the decision phase!
Thank you for sharing. Glad she had a good feel from her last auditions!
@emdpraze , I was at Rowan as well attending the open house. I did stop into Wilson Hall during the auditions to try and connect with a friend helping with auditions. Glad you enjoyed it. My D was accepted into their MT track several years ago and also enjoyed her audition there.
@emdpraze & @exitstageleft I tried to find not talked about schools near NY and did not find Rowan, does it have a BA or BFA in Musical Theater? Not that it will help me now, too late but for the next class. Also I was looking for excellent academics, do you know how they compare? Thanks. Love hearing more and more about less talked about schools! @theaterwork this is one you are looking at too correct?
@shopforpunky My D got a priority waitlist from CMU but she decided to stay in Manhattan and attend Pace MT
@Tahuna , @mtmomofone & @Momsingson My S still hasn’t heard from Montclair. When did your kids audition? Mine was originally scheduled for 2/27 but had it moved to 3/19 due to illness.
@MontclairDiva - several of our group auditioned in Chicago and have received nothing at all via email or snail mail. Finally, because in my opinion, this is way too late…several of us called the department directly to check.
@MontclairDiva We auditioned at the LA Unifieds in February, and never did get an official notification. As @crc500 said, we ended up having to email the department.
Hmmm sounds like something happened to a whole batch of mail. Definitely CALL.
Yes @Joyfulmama we are looking at Rowan. It’s in glassboro NJ
@theaterwork is it a BA or BFA in MT? I couldnt find the major on the site. And how is it academically? Any other info on it?
@Joyfulmama Rowan has a BA in Theatre with a Musical Theatre track. My D just auditioned yesterday. She loved the school. The faculty were very interesting, intelligent and creative. The atmosphere is very collaborative. The program is selective. Not 100% sure about academics, but seems like an excellent place to train as a theatre artist.
Another missing Monclair decision here. Daughter just called admissions was transferred to MT and then told to email Kim Whittam.
Thank you @emdpraze .Sounds interesting. As I say we are done but that info could help class of 2021
If your child is planning to apply to college MT Programs in the next couple of years – PLEASE READ THIS!! I just finished reading @rampions two excellent post(s) on the “Journey - Class of 2020” thread. They are extremely insightful and well worth reading IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO EMBARK ON THIS CRAZY MT JOURNEY. All I can say is ditto… To find her posts I entered the thread and hit “Last” to go to the end. Her posts are near the end and are lengthy, so easy to see. Cheers to all!!!
Hartt MT Waitlist, arrived today. For anyone still waiting, there is still hope!
Yay for you Destiny!!! There is always hope and I know sometimes kids come off lists in May and sometimes in the summer. Wish you all the best.
Deleted original message - looks like a ‘clerical error’ :0)
@deelight Wow, that is incredible. Call the school. That is not the kind of drama anyone needs (of course if there is an acceptance, that is wonderful!). Maybe that’s why this is a drama major, LOL. Truly, that just ratchets up the anxiety and stress. Let us know what you find out if you call.
