@lake4 Isn’t there a dance studio anywhere near you? The ones around us do summer intensives and workshops.
@Ducky312 thanks for the idea of RockWest in West Chester. That’s probably what we’ll have to do (privates with a local instructor) We have done that in the past. She’ll look into Broadway Dance Center, that should offer some training. I appreciate the advice and suggestions… She has had a hodge podge of experiences over the years, dance in her freshman year has been amazing and she looks great in ensembles for shows, so she isn’t really a beginner. She just wants to step it up with an intensive, but not finding the right fit at this point.
@GSOMTMom for some reason she wasn’t interested in the audition at Point Park…but yes the deadlines for many of those programs are past - she reviewed it though. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe next summer if nothing works out this summer. She has had a great freshman year of MT dance so who knows? Will keep looking for a good fit for this summer - even if it’s local private lessons which doesn’t seem ideal to me for numerous reasons.
@KTVoice Rider looks good but alas another high school based program. thanks.
@vvnstar thanks great suggestion and we are looking into it!!
@daughtersdreams looking into it - haven’t found anything yet. Most are very age group and high school based around here - she is freshman to sophomore BFA MT. If she would stay at school she would have more choices but she needs to work a little this summer as well! There is one in Princeton we are looking into to see if it would work. Thanks for the thought.
@lake4 Koresh School of Dance in Philly normally has workshops and intensives. My D studies there when she’s home. They have classes as well.
@mtjones1 thanks, will look into it! appreciate, that would be closer than Princeton!!
University of the Arts also has a summer dance intensive. You have to apply by March 25th though. She would also have to submit a video audition or audition in person on March 25th. Not sure if it’s just for high school students though. You may have to check that out.
Great to catch up a little. Seems like all have had a great year which is awesome! Can’t believe how quickly the year has flown by. D auditioned at SETC and booked summer work in NC. Going to have a family reunion while she is there.
@lake4 I know the age difference can be a “thing”. My daughter didn’t start taking dance until 11th grade, so she was in ballet and jazz with 11 &12 year olds who were already beyond her. It was humbling and a bit awkward. But oddly enough, many of the younger girls idolized her and all wanted to hang around her. She laughed about the fact that she finally found a place where she was the “popular girl”!
@lake4 - our D did BDC the summer after her freshman year. Great experience. Feel free to PM me if you have questions/want more info.
