Remember too- there is a difference between “rudeness” and “lack of woo”. My kids school (NYU) doesn’t do woo. They have accepted student events for the college, but you will not be getting phone calls/letters/invitations from the dept after acceptance. Some are bothered by that (it has often been discussed in this forum) but they are up front during applications/auditions- it’s not what they do. I worried that would translate into a coldness for my student (so often envious of the warm fuzzies described here) but it has not been the case. D’s teachers are hugely invested in HER - just not in me. I am sure that they lose accepted students to places that woo- but they seem to be doing fine
@mtmamma2020 I have not heard from Coastal either!
As I typed that D received her email from Viterbo – it was actually super positive and nice. She was admitted to BFA Acting – I wonder if this is an automatic deferral? We didn’t apply to acting.
We finally heard from Ball State. My D got a call this afternoon. She is on the wait list. Does anyone know if people ever move off the wait list there? Do we go visit now? What if she really likes it and then never moves off the list? I’m not sure how I feel about this now that we have our long awaited answer (sort of)
@mtmamma2020 D is also waiting on Ball State news as well as HARTT and Ohio Northern. These schools all seem to have notified others. So they are likely rejections, but it would just be nice to know. Plus there are four additional schools that we know have not made their offers yet. Lots of waiting…
I need to hear from Hartt as well!
Another mom (not registered on CC) called Ball yesterday and the woman told her that they have notified all the yeses and no’s and waitlists. If you haven’t heard, they are re-reviewing audition videos for a decision…
Hartt drags its feet and chances are if you haven’t heard by now it’s a no…
Oh… Comforting…
Lovely… well it isn’t a no till its a no @destiny95 !! You and my D are in the same boat!!
Webster is another one that seems to be short on communications. The last thing we heard from them was in January when we scheduled the audition. Not a peep since then. Like everyone else, at this point we’re assuming no news means a rejection, but it would be nice if they’d let us know.
;)) I guess I need to find the humor in all of this.
@destiny95 didn’t mean to rain on your parade…this is so tough and nothing makes it any better except time and knowing that in August you will be off for a wonderful new adventure!
Webster I know about – they just had their showcase, and Lara had said right before April 1. By snail mail I believe ugh.
I know it’s hard to wait when others have heard. But Coastall does notify everyone. If you haven’t heard yet it does not automatically mean it is a no. I know several kids happily attending CCU who received their notifications after the first wave went out.
And to all those going through the process this year, hang in there! It’s been 6 years since my D and I were in your shoes but I still remember the roller coaster of emotions. There was a point in time when she actually thought maybe this wasn’t meant to be for her. She’s now almost 2 years post college graduation, happily living and working in NYC. I had my hand held by some great parents here on CC, which is why I still come back to cheer all of you on!
S is waiting for Coastal still! @austinmtmom - thank you for the positive thoughts!
Edited to say he really liked his campus visit/audition day there!
Okay good! @mtmamma2020
let me know if she hears soon!
@Fotokat It’s brutal!!! I’ve rarely posted any comments, but like you I’ve found reading the comments on this site extremely helpful! We’re from the DC area too and my daughter has been extremely active in musical theatre for over 10 years with similar experiences and accomplishments. Our daughters probably know each other! My daughter has had a mix of yesses and nos, but so far no acceptances at any of her top choice schools. We also logically knew she had to audition for a lot of schools, but unprepared for the rejections, particularly at the schools that she had her heart set on. It can really take a toll on their confidence! After all of that training, and performing, and working to have it come down to this is heart breaking. As for Wright State, my daughter also auditioned on campus in February. She got a wait list letter by regular mail a week ago. If you haven’t heard, I’d consider that a positive… maybe she’s still in the running!
@Dankadon regarding Ball State… you said that they’ve sent ALL… so if you haven’t heard then you’re still under consideration? Are they using pre-screen videos? My daughter walked in at NY Unifieds so she didn’t submit a prescreen. Or did they video tape at Unifieds? Wonder if I should contact them and offer to send a link to her singing?
My daughter got a wait list call today from Ball State- 6 yes’s (including safeties), 4 waitlists- waiting on 2- Webster and MSM.
