@momadrama So sorry! My daughter was redirected at Millikin. Figured it would happen but hard to hear nonetheless.
@momadrama My D was also redirected to BA Theatre at Ball State…but I’m trying to convince her it’s a good opportunity and she might be able to audition again in November.
D’s spring musical opens tonight - hoping for only good news or no news this weekend. Or at least envelopes that are transparent enough for me to be able to hide bad news!
We’ll deal with the rest next week; she’s be in post-musical depression anyway…
@CentralOHmomof4 Cool! And good plan! What show is she doing?
@CentralOHmomof4 HA, I try the same thing with the envelopes! My daughter was also redirected at Ball State and refuses to even consider it as an option which drives me crazy!
@lookingforarolemodel MY D is acting the same way…I’m so upset. Ball State is still a good opp with the redirection. And we have a huge scholarship…i’m so depressed.
It broke my heart to see my daughter looking at her phone last night willing it to ring. This is so hard. Hoping for good news soon for all of us.
@kaf011 3/23 USC SDA post cards are mailed. Maybe a hold a flight a few days before just in case?
@CentralOHmomof4 my D’s show opened last night too on the West Coast! 2 week run so it will be a busy couple of weeks and she will be distracted, but the bad part is that she will likely be checking portals in front of peers. Exciting for a yes, but crushing for a no!
BA’s are magnificent options…
@bisouu Agree on the BA’s. You get more flexibility to minor and explore other interests (which you are supposed to do in college!). What if they pound the pavement for a few years and then decide they want to go to law school or grad school? A broad-based college education is invaluable!
@bisouu I agree! I need to get my D on board!
My D wouldn’t consider the BA either.
It’s so funny…they don’t know what they don’t know at this point. My daughter was the same way. Absolutely set on a BFA until she wasn’t. LOL Now she can’t imagine not going the BA route. It will all fall into place. The month of March sucks and there’s no way around it.
@bisouu is your D at a school where they offer a BFA MT but she has chosen the BA route?
No mail yesterday…except a letter from UWSP, we thought it was a decision…nope, it was your haven’t paid your registration fee yet! Arghh!!! March madness has a whole new meaning in our house!
So, I’m just going to ask the question…for a friend. Do people get redirected to acting after not being accepted for MT at BW?
BA’s are great options for sure. As for Ball State: I posted this before but I’ll say it again last year when we were at Ball State visiting the lead in hairspray was in the BFA however she had previously been a BA major – we also had lunch with two BFA MT students who had previously been in the BA program. It does however involve an extra year - not a bad option especially with the scholarship money that ball state offers. We did not end up there however I would not discount that option
@mtmamma2020 Thank you so much! I will be sharing with my D!
@mardeen I believe they get redirected to the BA theatre program. They do have a BFA acting program now, but the auditioning is separate from the conservatory.
