Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

Seton Hill University in Pittsburgh also has April 8th audition which my D is scheduled for. Hoping for a BIG yes this week so we can skip that one, but just in case. . . .

@marg928 @theatrical my daughter is a Freshman BFA MT at Tampa. For her it came down to Tampa & BoCo BFA MT, to our surprise after attending classes at both she fell in love with Tampa and is now there & really happy (at the time it was tough decision but she just felt the right fit was at Tampa). She was cast in their fall production and it was excellent. Loves her professors and classmates. Private message me with any questions. I sympathize with everyone going through this right now…you couldn’t pay me to go back to a year ago!!!

@1027fam Thank you for posting this! Tampa is a high probability for my daughter, so I’m so glad to hear yours loves it so much. We got a very warm feeling from the instructors and current students during our visits. Plus, we are from the northeast, so let’s face it…Tampa weather is looking pretty good right now!

My daughter received a call from Pace admissions today. That was a heart stopper. Still waiting to hear from Pace MT. I can’t wait to get off this roller coaster.

I’ve never posted here before, but after going through this process with my daughter last year, I was hoping to offer words of encouragement. At this time last year, my daughter had 5 wait lists…0 acceptances. We were a wreck. We made lots of mistakes along the way. We had academic acceptances and BA theatre options, but not any BFA MT offers. At the very end of April, she came off 2 of the wait lists. It was down to the wire, but it all worked out in the end. She had 2 choices and chose the best fit for her which also happened to be the cheaper option. It usually does work out so hang in there !!

1027fam that is so good to hear! I will show my daughter your post! My daughter has only recently considered to apply here and it is in our own backyard!! Perhaps thats why! I have heard good things and may message you in the future if we receive an acceptance!

Can you share what is the April audition date (or are there any in March also remaining) for U of Tampa? Their website only shows 2016 audition dates and not 2017. Thanks for sharing!!

Last year my D was in your shoes. All will work out in the end and they will find their home. My D decided to apply to Tampa late in the game. She spoke to the head of the dept (can’t remember his name) and he was very nice. It was past their audition date but he allowed her to send in a taped audition for MT. She was offered a spot there although she did end up elsewhere. For those who are still looking for late audition possibilites it’s def worth giving it a shot. Very impressed with this program.

I am so sorry bfamtdad my daughter was the one who told me that but I believe you are right she must have been looking at the 2016 dates, oh no! I hope they have another audition date! The school is on spring break right now. I know there is an open house scheduled for next Sunday 3/19 that we are planning to attend, if we find out anymore info, we will be sure pass it along.

@bfamtdad UTampa does MT auditions during their Admissions Open Houses. Remaining dates are Mar. 19, 2017, 10 a.m. and Apr. 9, 2017, 10 a.m. Open House begins with a presentation and then they split off by major. All prospective students will then see a department presentation and follow up with their auditions and tours. You can register for an open house at https://www.ut.edu/undergradvisit/. Break a leg!

We were not able to attend an in person audition for U Tampa so we sent in a video (acting not MT). They said you had to to live more than 100 miles away though for them to accept a video. She was accepted two days after we sent it in.

Congrats! Great news on acceptance. Were you only seeking BFA Acting Acceptance or are they only accepting BFA Acting videos and no longer BFA MT videos …if that deadline has passed or that program is already filled up.? If you could clarify that would be appreciated. Thank you!!

@desertrat Thanks for taking the time to share your words of encouragement. It really does help. Hope your D is having a wonderful year in her program!

@bfamtdad not sure if you were referring to my post about Tampa but if so…UT’s acting degree is an auditioned BA. I can’t give you any details about their MT program but they should be back from spring break tomorrow…totally worth a call over there. Like I said…it’s a really nice school and not terribly expensive. It’s one of the only schools that gave my D any merit $ as well.

My D loved her audition at University of Tampa. Welcoming faculty and students. You cannot beat the location of the school and the beautiful campus. @rpmjsmom - We are local also!

Countdown begins again. 24+ hours for Point Park. Hoping they don’t close due to snow so we can see whether he is in or out or (don’t even want to say it) another wait list. Welcome to another week of waiting for emails, portal results, stalking the mailboxes and kids answering their cell phones.

Good luck to everyone this week. Did everyone get the NYU email about how they are in their final review of applications? I am surprised that they are in their final review but we won’t hear until 4/1. I guess they have a lot of applicants. How many kids do they take?

Thanks sabersunshine, good to know!

@sabersunshine Thanks for your post. U of T was under the radar for me (and we live in Florida). I did not know about the program. We are going to go on April 8th…my D is not having a good audition season. As much as we prepared, we don’t feel like we did it right. A whole load of No’s…still waiting on several schools but time is ticking and my D is not as willing to consider a BA program although I wish she would as she has be redirected to BA with Ball State…it’s been very difficult as I know it has been on everyone else.

I know some Baldwin Wallace MT notifications have gone out, has any heard from their BFA Acting auditions?
