Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

Congrats to all those receiving acceptances today! So exciting!

Congrats to everyone getting good news today.

Congrats @lookingforarolemodel That is not an easy admit! Woohoo!

@daughtersdreams Congratulations! if she auditioned for Acting and MT, those emails mean that she got in for Acting but not Musical Theatre

@MTheatreKid I hope so. It was no fun opening the first one that just says “I regret to inform you…”. Then she scrolled down to see the “Congrats”. Stomachs are still doing somersaults.

@daughtersdreams I agree with what MTTheatreKid said. Accepted for Acting but not MT.

@daughtersdreams I’m with @GSOMTMom, that most likely means accepted for acting but not MT. The nice thing at PPU is that the acting and MT kids really do take a lot of classes together, and they are allowed once they hit sophomore year to audition for all of the productions. Congrats to all the newly accepted Point Park kids! If any parents have any questions, feel free to hit me up.

@daughtersdreams, a BFA Acting major had a prominent feature in The Who’s Tommy in the fall.

@CTDramaMom There is another CC member (WorkOfHeart17) who posted a question on the " Discussing application season, sharing, venting" board. Her D was redirected to BA Performance at Point Park. Thought maybe you could offer insight.

Thanks, I’ll take a look at it! I know less about the degree requirements for that program, but I do know that the BA kids also audition for all the shows.

And @GSOMTMom, if you mean the Acid Queen, that girl was ah-mazing!

A current PP Acting major emailed my D shortly after she auditioned asking if she had any questions about the program. My D asked about BFA Acting students being able to take dance and voice and the student said there’s no time. This is the biggest concern my D has. Even if she’s not an MT major, she doesn’t want her voice and dance skills to fall away.

@daughtersdreams This is my concern too!

@daughtersdreams I know many Acting majors who take Voice lessons from the freshman to senior year. One of them is the girl who @CTDramaMom mentioned. Also while you might not be able to take dance classes as part of your daily schedule, there are community classes here offered by the dance faculty of PPU that a bunch of people within the conservatory take advantage of. So while difficult to have these classes it’s not impossible.

Many congratulations to everyone receiving those happy emails of acceptance. Yet another no for us from Point Park. And I’m afraid UWSP might be a no too if they emailed acceptances, no email from them…Our score card= 5 nos and 7 more decisions to be made. /:slight_smile:

@lookingforarolemodel Congratulations!! I got mine today too

@efr9598 We are still searching for the Temple “portal”. All my D can access is her application summary page from her original application submission. Is there is a special web address for the portal?

@momtojoss my daughter received her no from Belmont also today! We never were able to do the audition in person or visit the campus. The audition dates were major conflicts for us! That makes 3 no’s in a row for us! Hanging in there!

@ALS0830 hang in there. You truly are not alone. It only takes one acceptance --and maybe that one is a safety and/or a BA program. There are lots of stories of kids ending up SO happy after being in a similar situation as you describe.

Did PP send out waitlists yet?
