Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

@missnypizza we are in the same boat here as well. Academically accepted everywhere, but rejected for MT at 3 schools and WL for one :open_mouth:

@rpmjsmom I feel your pain. We have a load of NOs already and NO WLs…One BA Redirect to Ball State and waiting on only 5 left of which only one of them was an in person audition. Traveled a lot; spent a lot of money and have nothing to show yet. I know everyone keeps saying that everyone ends up where they are supposed to be, but I’m getting nervous for my D. We got the NO from Emerson yesterday too. My D is at Florida State Thespians too…so hoping she is keeping her mind busy with other things. But it’s kind of hard. Best of luck! I hope we both have good news soon or I don’t know what I’ll do. :((

@LBSMOM Yes, it’s so frustrating. I know it’s competitive but jeez, it’s heartbreaking to see your kid work so hard and do so well and keep getting rejected. But yeah we are golden academically!

@missnypizza - I sent you a message with my email address - hang in there.

Does anyone know anything about Emerson WL? My D is WL for MT and I am trying to figure out her chances. If there are 100 kids on the WL, we will write it off and focus on other schools. Welcome to purgatory.

I sound like a broken record, but I truly feel for you guys who haven’t had the best news yet.

HANG IN THERE!!

I truly remember how gut wrenching it was two years ago … we too had zero acceptances at this point. But two years ago today we arrived in a town 500 miles away for a last minute audition that I had thrown on the calendar in a panic. Two years ago tomorrow, my D auditioned at a school that wasn’t even on her radar at the beginning of her senior year - and she fell in love, was accepted, got a two scholarships there (academic & theatre) and is currently a sophomore and LOVING her life there. This last minute school ended up being the perfect fit and there is no other place she’d rather be.

I know I sound like a broken record sometimes w/ her story … but when I was in the thick of it (like some of you guys are) I couldn’t imagine what it would be like two years later.

Also, drink wine. Lots of it. It helps.

Or, if you need something stronger, I recommend Fireball whiskey.

What’s going on with Montclair? They seem to be releasing acceptances randomly, not in waves. Has anyone here auditioned at LA Unifieds and heard back? getting nervous

No Mail. Again. GAH!!!

That’s how they did it last year, @mtpassionate99. No rhyme or reason.

I haven’t heard much discussion about LIU Post on here, but I think they still have auditions coming up – for those of you looking to do a last minute add-on audition. One tomorrow (short notice!) and I think one in April though it’s not listed on their website. You can contact Cara Gargano or Maria Porter or David Hugo at the department of theatre. Long Island University - Post campus offers a many different BFA’s and BA’s - so your student might find a fit there. BAL!

Bless every one of you and your kids! I would be going nuts without CC and your voices of shared frustration, anxiety, calm, advice, and helpful storytelling. My D has one BFA MT acceptance, is waiting for nine notifications, and hopes for one yes among them. We knew it would be difficult, and she didn’t go into this expecting to get into the big name prestigious programs, but it’s still so hard to go through this waiting and feeling that there really should be a good place for everyone who wants to do this work. I don’t actually think any of them know yet how talented they are, or what they can accomplish, and it hurts that these schools have to make judgments today when there is so much artistic development to come. Thinking of all of you and wishing everyone the best!

We got the NYU email as well.

@mtpassionate99 My D audition in LA for Montclair. She got a very confusing NO for MT but we still want you to attend in the fall as “undeclared” and try out again next year. Thinking that’s not going to happen.

Still looking for a program??? Emory & Henry is in rural south western Virginia. They offer a BFA in musical theatre, Rolling admission and you can submit audition online. Small school, very friendly with very generous academic and artistic aid. The have a relationship with The Barter Theatre and beautiful new theatre facilities. Students and teachers very friendly and welcoming. If you are still hoping for a BFA program this may fit the bill for some of you. For those that haven’t gotten that elusive “yes”- please know that we are rooting for you & your kids!!

Any intelligence on when Webster will be releasing BFA MT notifications? Anxiously awaiting that one!

Just got an acceptance from Webster this morning via email.

@Joshhenricksee3 Congratulaitons!

Congratulations @Joshhenricksee3 ! Is your acceptance at Webster for the musical theatre BFA?

@aquarose26 So sorry to hear that! How confusing…they sent you it by snail mail? I know some kids said they received a very confusing letter stating they were not accepted to their “chosen major” aka MT. Is this how your D’s was?
