Congrats to you @owensfolks - best of luck.
@remartin67 we will be at UArts on 4/1:)
How do I go about letting schools know I will not be attending? I am trying to contact Emerson but I have no idea who to talk to. Should I send an email to Mary Hawkins??? It says she is an Associate Professor and Acting Chair. Or do I contact the department?? I’m so confused.
@owensfolks I cannot wait!!! Hurry hurry
Congrats @owensfolks How lovely to be done!! I look forward to reading the “saga”! LOL
Do theater and musical theater program directors at the same school talk before offering acceptance? If my D was accepted to one program at a school does that mean she will not get accepted to the other program?
Woohoo, @owensfolks! How exciting! I cannot wait to read your “saga” and learn from your D’s experiences. Best of luck to her at her chosen school, and to you and Mom. Now you can breathe a bit easier!
@WhiteRaven1 Send an e-mail to the head of the Department as well as the general university admissions office.
@remartin67 Hoping that we can squeeze part of the day in. My D has a show that weekend but very much hoping to make it for at least part of it. So exciting to be at this stage! Accepted (hard won) visits- YAY!
Did anyone else do a walk-in at Temple in Chicago? My daughter has been accepted to MT, but when I called today I was told her academic admission wouldn’t be determined until the third week in April. She has strong academics, so I am not worried about her acceptance, but I can’t get financial aid information until she is accepted, and I hate to spend money on a cross country visit, if it isn’t going to be financially viable. I was wondering if anyone else had done a late application and gotten the academic admission any faster?
Does anyone know if a rejection from CCM comes emailed directly throught the MT department or is the rejection sent via the U of Cincinnati portal? Thanks…we are still waiting.
@nodaybut2daymom CCM rejection came through email for my D
@KelviVan My son applied after his walk in at NY unifieds. His academic decision took a few weeks but he received very little scholarship money. He is a very strong student that was put in their Honor’s College but they didn’t back that will strong financial support…ughhhhh.
If anyone applied to American University watch your snail mail for notifications.
@WhiteRaven1, for Emerson my daughter contacted the person that auditioned her. It was at unifieds and only one person was in the room so that made things simple.
@KelviVan my son auditioned at NY unifieds, but not as a walk in. He too is a very strong student with excellent ACT scores, but he was surprisingly not placed in the honors program. He was placed in the honors program at Rider and Wagner so we are a bit confused about that. Even without the honors program, he did receive a very strong renewable merit award. I don’t know how to explain the difference between the merit award between my S and @nodaybut2daymom with regard to amount of money or our lack of honors program. Maybe they run out of merit $$ as time goes on?? My S was accepted January 31. If Temple is a serious contender, I would email tfma (tfma@temple.edu) and tell them the situation and ask for advice. Maybe they can set you up to Skype with a current student maybe and pick their brain? Ask on CC if anyone knows a current student?? We plan to visit during spring break and can tell you more about our impressions of program then. Maybe others can do the same.
@nodaybut2daymom My D’s notification from CCM came via an email saying her portal had been updated. Then, she logged into the portal to find a pdf of the acceptance (BFA Acting) and rejection (BFA MT) letter. The printed version of that pdf came in snail mail a few days later.
Congratulations @owensfolks! What a great feeling to have made a decision! I agree, I am looking forward to buying a sweatshirt and a car magnet. That will be the most rewarding $50 spent. I can’t wait to read about your journey and where your D ended up!
@KelviVan @nodaybut2daymom my D applied to Temple early and auditioned at NYC unifieds. We did not receive her acceptance until a couple weeks ago. It also stated it was pending academic admission, but that came through in a day or two. I don’t know if they are processing apps in batches, or what can be the hold up. My D is a great student and received an excellent merit award and was placed in the honors college. Maybe there is a limited amount of merit to give out in a year? I remember being told that about the FAFSA. If you don’t file it with a school early, you may miss out on merit money. But, I really don’t know. The tuition there without any scholarship is reasonable compared to many other schools (maybe $28k next year). We are visiting this Saturday for accepted students day so I can let you know how that goes.
