Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

@nodaybut2daymom my D the first one in October as well. She wanted to do another one since she has more pieces than she did then.

Does anyone know which schools do academic acceptance prior to and separate from artistic decisions? My D has several applications in that we haven’t seen any change in status on - some she has auditioned for and some are scheduled at Unifieds - and we aren’t sure if we need to call and follow up on academic info, or if they are just waiting on an artistic decision. She has strong academics so we aren’t expecting any admission issues, but we are specifically waiting on Montclair, Penn State, Pace, CCM & OU…

Pace has a separate academic acceptance

My D received her Pace admission pretty quickly and hasn’t yet auditioned. Penn State you will not get until she auditions. I believe Montclair is also separate.

My D got her admission acceptance to Montclair and she has not auditioned yet. Also admitted to Coastal Carolina, Point Park, OU and FSU prior to audition.

Thanks! We had some issues with her transcripts, so i know that caused some delays. She’s received academic acceptances from FSU, Point Park, TSU, Texas Tech, Rider, Ohio Northern & UAB, but we’re trying to make sure everything is in order for scholarship deadlines and honors colleges before we get slammed into audition weekends! I’ll tell her to call Montclair and Pace to make sure there aren’t any problems - status says Completed - but the apps were completed in November, and nothing has changed… UArts is also delayed and I think they want the actual transcript from the Community College where she received dual enrollment credit, but no one else has needed it prior to admission since it’s reflected on her high school records…

So you were admitted to Rider before you auditioned? My D’s status says pending audition at Rider…

My S just got his acceptance to Pace with merit aid. He got his admittance to Montclair with no mention of merit aid and we are still waiting for academic acceptance to Shenandoah.

@Barrie08, 3 years ago, I don’t recall that there was a separate academic acceptance for Shenandoah. I know things change from year to year but don’t be alarmed if one doesn’t come. You can keep up on the status on the Web Advisor portal though.

Is your son going for mt?

@Meanasmom - My D auditioned for Rider in November. She did only get a single acceptance - unfortunately for her it was a redirect to Dance Performance instead of MT, but they did offer really good academic merit $.

.

My S’s year (three years ago), he did not receive academic admission from University of Cincinnati until after rejection from CCM.

@GSOMTMom - thanks for the info. My S just got the nicest email from Kevin Covert who is the new head of MT at Shenandoah Conservatory. Does anyone have any kids that go there? We are really excited to go out there next month!

@Barrie08 Congrats! Was the email inviting your son to live auditions? Was it feedback on prescreens?

@nodaybut2daymom - thanks! My S put in his prescreen a while back and heard back 2 days later with an invite to live auditions, but he put in his prescreen very early in the process.

D Finally past prescreen for u mich after sending in before thanksgiving really???

well my D officially let Elon go. They messaged her on GetAcceptd and told her they needed a decision by Jan 4 as to whether she would attend the Feb 3rd audition. We had such a hard time deciding…we visited the school in August and really loved it. The two early action fall auditions were impossible since they were on Fridays and she’s a cheerleader and our games are on Fridays. She really has her heart set on California though…NC is really not a big draw for her. Plus she has play practice Th-F-S that week and she would have to miss all three. We would have had to fly there Thursday night and go home Saturday. Plus I have a hotel room booked Saturday night in NYC because her USC audition is at 8 am on Sunday! Ugh tough one but in the end she didn’t answer them on time so she’s out. It’s such a shame they don’t go to Unifieds! They are missing out on a lot of talent IMHO.

Marg928 That is tough but she has to make a decision on what she feels is right. She obviously wasn’t feeling it was the right fit. She will find her school…it is just a matter of whether or not we survive as parents. Lol

@marg928 something similar happened to us re; FSU – that school really seemed like a fit, except the heat! We just couldn’t get there so we let it go – and don’t worry, not one regret!!
