Class of 2021 (sharing, venting, etc)

@mtmamma2020 FUS is coming to Unifieds for acting so she will be auditioning for them on 1/22. I believe there’s a callback weekend though. I called there this week to find out and the woman wasn’t sure and said they would call me back but they never did.

@KelviVan we are in EXACT same boat. UofArts won’t give decision without official transcripts from the college and yes!-the credits and grades reflected on official HS transcripts as well. Also still waiting on academic from most- completed all end of September first week of October.

@MTMHopeful We finally got the CC transcript waived from UArts. They said we should receive a decision “shortly”… I called several other schools this week to follow up on her status and they mailed the decision the day that I called. I was either extremely fortunate in my timing, or hearing from me prompted the response. So I guess we’ll be checking the mail routinely next week!

@marg928 re your D dropping Elon: I feel you. I was warned that it would happen-but my D’s “ideal program” has changed since August/September when she solidified her list. There are schools that she now wishes she had applied to; and schools that she did apply to that she’s now uncertain about. I guess it’s another argument to apply to a fair # of programs.

Uncertainty is completely normal during this crazy process. I’ve said this before, as have others, but our D’s “favorites” changed drastically from the beginning of making the list to auditioning to final decision. One of her initially top programs fell to the bottom and the one where she ended up (Wright State) was somewhere in the middle (or maybe even lower-middle - Dayton??? haha) until she auditioned and it jumped to the top. She didn’t care that it was in Dayton (which has turned out to be a very nice city!) BUT a good friend a couple of years younger than she is did not like WSU/Dayton at all. Everyone will have their own favorites, and as they go through this audition year, those opinions may shift. A great reason to have lots of different programs on the list!

What @MTmom2017 says is so true. When my daughter started this process she wanted a BFA program in California and ended up in a BA program on the east coast and is having the time of her life. Keep options open and rule nothing out.

Yeah, @MTmom2017 my D had very little interest in Wright State. She regarded her November audition as “practice” for her “real” auditions. Then she got there, did the Friday Master class, went to the show Friday night: Knocked her (and my) socks off.

@bisouu sounds just like my D…BFA in Cali is the dream! She does already have an acceptance into the BA program at LMU in LA so perhaps the California dream will actually happen. She hasn’t seen the school though and doesn’t know too much about the program at this point.

My D is doing her second mock audition today with MTCA…I’m sitting and waiting because it’s way too cold and slippery to be walking around NYC. I have a comfy chair and a plug so I’m all set!

BAL to your daughter!

@marg928 We spent many hours at Pearl Studios yesterday…weather was awful and so slippery! Good luck with the mocks and stay warm and dry. I too had a comfy chair yesterday which is a rare find! Don’t give it up! Lol

@nodaybut2daymom Those Pearl comfy chairs are precious and rare.Even rarer- the comfy chair near an outlet! I was sadly on one of the super uncomfortable benches… Crazy weather yesterday & it was hard getting around the city!

Parking…isn’t there an app to find cheap parking? The hotel we booked charges 60 a night :frowning: This was supposed to be a reply to Chicago Unifieds posts. Chicago parking~

I used to use bestparking.com for NYC. They have have Chicago as well.

we were just in Chicago over break and used bestparking. Saved $25 a day, and ended upon the same garage where the hotel would have put our car anyway.

@Mtmomkbh Spothero is a great app & has saved me a lot of money on city parking. I paid just $14 for 14 hours on a Saturday in New York recently. Works in every city & super easy to use.

I can’t believe that January is here & the major audition season is upon us! My D has a handful of auditions under her belt but no acceptances or rejections yet. I’m hoping to keep her healthy & focused in the months ahead. I wish she had a little good news at this point but I’m glad we haven’t had a string of rejections yet either. Had a minor crisis yesterday when she received an email from Penn State telling her that despite what was on Accepted- prescreens were due that day. Had really hoped to redo her songs but oh well!! Hope all the intrepid auditioners (& their hard working Moms & Dads) are handling the stress with aplomb!! This is not a process for the faint of heart.

@MTMHopeful as of now GetAccepted says there are still 24 days left till Penn State prescreen is due for the Acting BFA…yet it was really due 12/1. My D had to let that one go too because by the time we found out the date was wrong it was too late to get the aforementioned 5 page paper done.

@marg928 grrrrr! It’s frustrating. It takes time & money to apply. During this process both are in short supply- I get that it isn’t necessarily a school error but still disappointing.

We haven’t even found out if my daughter passed the Elon pre-screen, but have had to rule it out. We can’t get to any of the on-campus dates. We were hoping to go straight down from Chicago Unifieds, but the only time she managed to get for CCM is after 4 p.m. on Thursday and there is no way to get to North Carolina by 8 a.m. on Friday…
