@tabers - I believe Rider also doesn’t like plastic protective sheets. And really, do these schools need to make things more complicated with little preferences like that?
@MReader Bingo, It was Rider. “Copies of music for your accompanist without plastic protective sheets.” Thanks.
It may be best to stay away from the protective sheets unless they’re glare free.
hi all - had a question about the Facebook group they have every year with students and auditioning. Last year was the Troupe, before it was the Ensemble, the Allied, etc. Does anyone know what the group is for class of 2021?
@livingcolor The Company
@lincoln56 my D also has Michigan dance call first up in Chicago. What time does your D go? Mine goes at 4:45; she has a classmate that goes an hour or two later.
My D has heard back from Montclair. Accepted but for General Ed only. She has Los Angeles Unifieds coming up in 2 weeks. She’s auditioning for Montclair and 4 others, maybe more if we can sign up as walk ins. It appears it takes about 3-6 weeks following auditions to hear back. Emerson College website says it won’t notify until after 4/1. We got the best advice over the past weekend from a judge at a competition. He said the best thing to do is “be you” as they are looking for potential. My gut tells me to relax a bit and not get overly concerned. HOWEVER, I know nothing about MT. I’m just the mom who is her biggest fan.
@aquarose26 you got academic acceptance to Montclair? My D applied a long time ago and never has gotten academic acceptance… her audition is not until march…
I know that I have posted this on here before and I don’t mean to be a broken record but my daughter was redirected from EVERY program she auditioned at and came off one waitlist at the end of the season. She ended up choosing her safety and is now going into her second semester of her junior year. She has had a phenomenal experience and is so happy things turned out the way they did. Hang in there, you honestly will end up where you are meant to be. At the time you are going through this it seems like Hell but I promise it will be over quickly. <3
I have heard back from one school at NYC Unifieds. I was “redirected” from MT at UArts to their DPP Program. I am really excited about it! Seems like a great program that still offers a MT minor.
@WhiteRaven1 you have some great options-I am so happy for you!
@owensfolks Thank you so much!
I just wanted to let people know that the first offer is not the ending offer. My DD got scholarship offers along with her academic acceptances, which I believe were based on GPA and test scores. Then when she got her artistic acceptances there was more. Then when the financial aid packages came there was more. We do not get ANY money based on income. They were all grants named for people (that I have to assume set up scholarships), some as small as $1,500, but they add up. The last piece was after deciding on her top two she called the financial aid office at one school (the director had already called her twice encouraging her to attend) and asked for even more! That resulted in a 3K grant. So you have to be on top of it and ask. Her total bill is 57k and we pay about 17K. I think the schools are aware of the price tag and do what they can to help.
@owensfolks 5:30Pm for us we fly in early that morning so that we can relax for the day in the hotel and find the ballet school. I am just praying that we all stay healthy having my D stay home Friday to make sure. We have 9 auditions and will be doing 3 a day. Happy we have her top schools the first day.
@BeBop1 wonderful story can you share the school
@lincoln56 I messaged you
@theaterwork Yes, she got her academic acceptance sometime before Christmas.
I received an acceptance to UArts a couple days ago as an MT major! Expensive school though…
My D was just telling me that her UArts audition at NYC unifieds did not include monologues, just two songs. Has anyone else had that experience with this particular school? She’s feeling anxious remembering it now…
@1bamom my D just did audition at u arts but on campus. She did one song, 1 monologue and then they did callbacks . She got called back for MT & nothing else. So then she was going to sing her second song but they told her they were fine with her vocally lol and they had her do her first monologue again with feedback and direction. She thought everyone was really nice and faculty was positive .
I’m assuming Unifieds auditions with them were different?
I agree with @megamusical …pricey school…
