@loribelle I am right there with you. My son got an early WL at his dream school followed by a pile of No’s. We are waiting on 5 more schools plus one late audition regional school. Not a single yes. S also has been told.by college professors and even a bway director that he has what it takes, but he must not be what they’re looking for this year
@uskoolfish Thank you for the info. We were told that they hardly give out talent scholarships.
Glad there is a spin to this. I’m assuming “very talented” is subjective to what they are looking for each year
@eks2018 I’ve known of rejection emails every morning (early) and acceptance calls every afternoon this week if I remember correctly. Over 1400 auditions I think, so may take some time. If history is a pattern, waitlist may come around middle of month, but I also hear they may be calling waitlists now.
@loribelle thank you!!! super helpful!!
@mommaofdrama - We got the same Email from NYU-Tisch School of Drama. Must be a general form letter.
@Fergie978 Thanks! I emailed to ask about the program and was told it IS an audition BA program, and that its expected to be a small class like the BFA. I auditioned at NY Unifieds
@speezagmom, I’ve been lurking on this board for over four years and had to post because I’m pretty sure that (even though this is cc!) you are the mom I sat with back in November at that dream school audition and both of our boys are on that same WL. And if that’s the case, our boys know each other from last summer and your son is just awesome as both a performer and as a person. Hang in there - we will get through this!
@emdcollege I wouldn’t take the no talent scholarship too seriously. I know of very few schools that are not tight on scholarship money right now. Getting in the door to a school is what counts. There are many students that have come to my school as our top scholarship recipients and have done poorly while students who were initially waitlisted ended up being the stars of their class by their senior year. What matters most about their success in the program is the work they put into their classes once they get there. ~ VT
@“yaycollege!” I bet you are correct! I hope.you guys have had better news along the way and that both our boys come off that wait list with acceptances!
@mezzomother That’s awesome. I have heard nothing from them and I auditioned NYC unifieds on the 21. They are one of three programs left for me (9 no’s in a row including prescreens)
@VoiceTeacher I’m so glad you’re here to provide this type of practical reminder.
@mezzomother that’s awesome. Congrats! Still waiting to hear from Hartt here and hoping for good news. My D liked the professors very much…
Yes, thank you, @VoiceTeacher ! I mean, c’mon - if you are one for 20-25 students that get accepted, of course they think you are talented!
@Fergie978 exactly!
Rejected from my dream school JMU this evening
@dontaskme1 sorry to hear. Keep the faith.
@dontaskme1 - so sorry. Hang in there. We are reminding ourselves that there are many paths to success, but easier said than to believe when you want something so badly.
@VoiceTeacher - you make me wish my child had applied to your school. You represent your school well!
@dontaskme1 - We’ve had rejections too, it’s definitely the roughest part of the process! It only takes one… best of luck to you!!
@MTdaughter99 and @Noreplays2018 - my son is a freshman in the BA theatre program at NU - happy to answer questions if you have any. @BassTheatreMom is right - all RD admissions go out the same time - late March.
@MTdaughter99 Northwestern is definitely a different type of a program from the BFA MT conservatory programs. It really depends upon what she wants from her college experience. But my son is thriving there and is very happy to have chosen it.
