anyone heard from Penn? We know someone who got an email last night ho is on waitlist
@Trish0118 My D is on the Penn deferred list from a January audition. No further updates at this point but believe there could be movement this week.
@mumssm Maybe ask about Ball State Acting on the Acting thread? I know there is crossover but…My s auditioned and we haven’t heard anything yet.
Any news on when Ithaca will send out decisions?
@artskids thank you- we auditioned on campus 2/24. I’m hoping for good news but it makes me nervous when kids
hear waitlists that could possibly be a no- and of course this is her top choice-good luck to your D
@Work64 Ithaca has sent out some acceptances and some rejections. Based on prior years, it seems acceptances are staggered but do show up around now through mid-March. You can check the Ithaca portal as well. If it is disabled, it means “no.”
Just called BoCo to ask when they send notifications. The student with whom I spoke said they are always last and notify April 1. He didn’t say how our students will hear. Just fyi!
Any idea when CM notifies, and how?
@work64 - chiming in on Ithaca - if they hold to past years - they release another wave of decisions each Friday throughout March… my D had the pleasure of not being released until the very last date! LOL It’s frustrating that others are getting decisions while you wait - but you are truly still in the mix until you get your decision… so try to stay patiently positive!
@mtmom911 last year my son was notified by BOCO by email- I’m pretty positive they told him to check his portal. They were one of the last schools he heard from.
Ball State Update: Just saw a post on a Ball State thread from a lady who’s daughter is in “The Green Room” Facebook page, and someone had posted that all initial offers for MT have been made. Not sure if it’s true, she was wondering as well, but thought I’d pass it along. Hopefully those of us who haven’t yet heard have a waitlist coming, and hopefully those who decide they don’t want to attend BSU let them know asap!
@mtmom911 My D is in the freshman MT class at BoCo. They typically send emails to all applicants notifying that decisions have been posted to portals. Last year my D received her notification at about 4 pm (5 pm Eastern) on March 31. It was a long wait, but worth it in the end. My memory of CMU is that they call their accepted students and everyone is notified around mid-March, but others on this forum might have more reliable info. Best wishes to your applicant on all remaining schools!
My S was never released from Ithaca (and he graduates college this year). LOL. I guess he slipped through the cracks!
@artskids that’s crazy! Was he ever notified by Ithaca that he was on hold/waitlisted/deferred? My S auditioned back in early December and we haven’t heard anything from them at all since his audition. We were just assuming he’s still ‘in the mix’ but now I’m wondering if he should call!
No. No word at all to my recollection. AND his portal remained open. He called to notify them once he accepted at BW without really even knowing his status (but assuming he had been rejected). We had assumed for a time that he was still “in the mix” but thought they would have somehow notified him.
Does anyone know how and when my D should hear from the University of Miami or University of Central Florida? Thanks!
Same here, @PaMTmom - auditioned back in Dec, haven’t heard anything. When I checked the portal, I can go into the Members area, and do a search for the major "Musical Theatre. When I last checked, there were about 16 students that came up as “accepted”. But, yes, my D’s portal is still open!
New here, but have been following this thread for a while. I have some info about Ithaca, Ball State, and Texas State.
For Ithaca, D was rejected, and a friend accepted about 10 days ago. Were told that ALL decisions had been made and sent out. Not sure how true that is, however, we are on the west coast, as her friends from Michigan, NC, Texas, and CA all heard the same day.
Ball State, D received a No for MT about 10 days ago, and then on Friday received a yes for Acting BFA. Was told that all students that apply to both MT and Acting are evaluated by entire theater department and placed where they will best grow. Not sure if they are still notifying.
Texas State, D was paced on Priority Hold yesterday. Was told that this means she is still being considered, and that they “released everyone else.” That said, not sure if all of the “release” notifications have gone out.
Background, she has applied to 21 schools (some both Acting and MT), 8 prescreens, passed 5, leaving 18 total to hear from. Had 7 NOs, around Feb 22-28. So now she has one YES, one WL, and the PH from Tex St. Waiting to hear from 9 more. Crazy process, but A LOT easier after the first YES comes in. Holding good thoughts for all still waiting on that.
Wonderful @mommagutz! D is also PH at Texas State and has had some rejections, waitlists and one yes so far. She has asked me NOT to chronicle her experience at this time here since I (and she) are not anonymous and she’s keeping her information to herself for the time being. She has a number of friends in the same boat as she and she’d rather wait until the end to “tell her story”.
@mommagutz, You’re speaking of MT for Ithaca? My kid is Acting only. Portal still open. No activity on it. Crickets…
I just called Ball State and they said they are sending emails and calling accepted applicants. Girl in admissions said a majority of the No’s have gone out…so if you haven’t heard from Bal state that could be a good sign but not a definite yes.
