@Work64 D1 (Acting major - so it’s a little different - those waitlists tended to be more fluid) got off all the waitlists her year (except one - Otterbein). The toughest part was March madness stretching into April madness as @singoutlouise says. She didn’t get off the waitlist to her #1 school until May 1 (she was on the phone with two schools over the last weekend!). She officially committed/deposited the morning of May 2.
My S is getting fitted for the waitlist crown for men this year I think, with many more potential waitlists out there. Fortunately he is not heartset on any schools except maybe one. Either way I’d be surprised if our process will be done before May 1.
Fortunately he is matter of fact. When he got the most recent waitlist letter from a top tier school, he asked if it was worth putting his name on the list. I told him it means he has a chance. He said, “oh okay. I guess I’ll do that.”
It does @DramaMan! Still in the running means still a chance. I’ve had D send an email or make a call each time to make sure she expresses interest in remaining in the running. When all results are in, we will try to visit waitlist schools if she not been to the campus. Just when you think audition travel is over :((
Hi everyone. I was a lurker until today. I guess the pressure of all this is getting to me and I need some support. No one else gets it like you all do. My S applied to 21 MT and Acting programs. Rejected from a bunch of prescreens as I don’t think his prescreens were any good. We hired a coach and he did better at auditions and we are now in March Madness and waiting…
He found his passion in MT as a late sophomore and quickly quit volleyball & football. He has been leads in all the productions and is the main lead this Spring in the musical. His grades are mediocre.I really hope he gets into something he likes and would be proud of. This process is aging me a bit more everyday as I get so anxious and can barely function. I know many of you feel the same. So I get happy with your acceptances and sad with your rejections too. I just want this month to be over.
@HopeinMT YOU ARE NOT ALONE!!!
HUGS!!!
We are all in this together! (cue high school musical music) lol It is definitely true that no one else really understands this crazy process. Hang in there!
We will all think good thoughts for your S! Hang in there - this is the real March Madness!
Received a No from Hartt BUT our first Yes from LIU MT yesterday, (both by snail mail)
@mammaofdrama Yay for first yes!
congratulations @mommaofdrama it’s nice to have at least 1. We only need 1 that we really like
@HopeinMT OMG you just described how I feel - DITTO!! this waiting is torture -my daughter stress is mounting because we haven’t heard from so many places and 2 girls in our HS have been accepted to top programs- 1 of the girls to 3 top MT programs and 1 WL -we r the only ones of the 3 waiting now and I’m hoping it’s a program she’ll be happy with- and same she is the lead in HS musical and has lots of training and experience…only passed about 60% of pre screens who knows why- song choice? were they bad? She had a great audition (she thought) at a top program and was rejected…and now I feel as though I’m losing it waiting for an email or a letter!! If it’s another no I don’t know how she’ll (or I) will handle it and her show is next week–!!
Yay @mammaofdrama !!! So happy for you! An MT YES!!! Whoohoo! And a really great program to boot!
@Trish0118 I feel your pain. Almost like we have the same situation. Perhaps hold those letters/emails if you think they aren’t good until after her show. ? I don’t know. Some kids are great at handling rejection. My son is and I am NOT. I am sure your D will get a great surprise! She has to!!! They will all end up where they are supposed to. I have hope! (hence my user name.)
Molloy/CAP21 has started to send out its decisions…I just heard of a Yes!
@HopeinMT Probably a good idea! She said she wouldn’t look until after the show but too hard- she and i are NOT
good at handling rejection and the torturous waiting-actually I think she is handling much better than ME !! I hope it works out for your S! I know they are supposed to end up where they should be -hear’s to thinking good thoughts and staying positive for both our sakes!
Has anyone else who auditioned for Montclair at NY unifieds still not heard anything?
@mthopeful17 Check your admissions portal that’s where our rejection letter was
Anyone heard anything from Oklahoma City? D auditioned on Feb. 3rd and haven’t heard anything yet.
@Mom2E oh trust me I’ve been checking it religiously :)) but nothing’s changed
@MThopeful17 You are not the only one still waiting to hear from Montclair. My D auditioned at NY unifieds and we still haven’t heard. Have check the portal daily, but nothing yet.
