Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@mandidnam can’t imagine getting 5 acceptances at the beginning! LOL We started with 10 rejections or redirects to BA. She forwarded me her first YES email and asked ‘does this mean I got in’ as if she couldn’t read! It was too shocking to believe!

Anyway got the last no today that we care about and waiting for 3 more that I don’t think matter. After a couple big disappointments she is lucky to have 2 very good programs to choose from. So relieved this is over and feel for those still waiting. Now the rush to visit the schools so we can decide and enjoy the VERY little time left to her stressful senior year. It has been so nice to see such a supportive and caring group on here - so rare these days which shows how important the Arts are to creating an accepting environmnent in this crazy world. Best of luck to all the kids in finding their happy place!

Congratulations @MTdreamz we all understand the feeling. so happy that she has 2 good ones and thank goodness we only need 1  Can’t wait to hear about her choice

I really think that 2 is the norm in this crazy world! We have 2.5 counting .5 for the waitlist! I am extremely grateful that one of the two is a dream program for my D. This have been the most stressful process I could have ever conjured up! Prayers for those still waiting.

Anybody know how many kids CCM generally accepts each year? I just saw a pic for their senior showcase on FB - and the group’s size was not what I had expected

@toowonderful I didn’t see the picture and I could be wrong but I think I read somewhere that CCM and Otterbein have a joint senior showcase in NYC so maybe that picture is of both classes?

@toowonderful I believe it is ~20 but might vary by 1 or 2. They try to get even boy/girl ratio but 2 years ago ended up with 15 guys and 5 girls (many accepted elsewhere).

20-22 at CCM @toowonderful

@PaMTmom the pic has about 16 kids. Some don’t make it four years and I’ve heard of kids moving to Acting…

@toowonderful If I recall correctly, we were told that CCM aims for an MT class of around 20. I think it is typically in the 18-22 range at the beginning of freshman year. As with all BFA programs, there are always a few who leave early.

Thanks everyone. Those #s were about what I remembered. What surprised me is that in the pic I saw, there were only 11 students - it seems to me that they had either lost a large #, or not everyone is in the showcase (which I know happens at some schools)

@toowonderful I saw a picture with showcase date and time that had 16 students in it. I wonder if that was just a candid shot that came out of their class photoshoot?

@IfYouOnlyKnew - this was on FB. If you search “CCM showcase” it comes up with their page - and a pic of 11 kids standing on steps

The picture with 11 seems to be their Acting class, not MT.

There are 16 in the class - they may only take 11 to the showcase …

As I said - it came to my attn b/c a HS classmate of D’s (who is a BFA tech at CCM) liked the post. I know none of the people in the pic. It may very well be the acting group - but don’t they take similar numbers there? Either way, it was a smaller group than I expected, and was curious.

My D & I went on a CCM open house last month and were told that they accept about 20 students and they do not try to balance boy/girl ratios.

Just FYI, the kids are starting FB groups of accepted students by colleges. If you’re kid isn’t in the Green Room they should try to get in there.

Oh, @MTdreamz “does this mean I got in?” They are so guarded against getting their hopes up in this process, it’s honestly heartbreaking. My D did the same with the letter telling her she got into Molloy/CAP21 - she read it as a redirect until we were like, no, this is it, you’re in, you’re in!! Hope your D celebrates her achievement!!

@CentralOHmomof4 & @MTdreamz - my D also did the same for one of her schools! She’d gotten several no’s in a row, as well as those “Congratulations!” emails about academic admissions. She checked a portal that clearly showed she was accepted, but she texted me with a screenshot to be sure! lol

@actingdreams @CentralOHmomof4 yes - the letter was from CCPA for MTD. Her first acceptance was from Ball State which was a phone call so that needed no interpretation! Haha. It looks like those are her choices. Very different atmospheres and programs (and she has never been to Muncie) so we will be visiting both over the next 3 weeks. Her dream is living in a city and a good dance program so I have a feeling I know where she will end up! She went to a camp at CCPA last summer and she will tell you it was the ‘best week of her life’. OHmom I notice you are from Ohio - we are in Toledo!
