That’s what my D says as well. Last year they notified on 3/21 and the year before 3/25. Dear Lord please make it sooner. She’s driving me crazy :)>-
We haven’t heard from Miami yet either!
I’m targeting Friday for Miami
@fancytheatrekid she did contact the counselor via email expressing her interest in coming off the waitlist and being in the theatre performance program. D was going to Wagner no matter what, she really loved it. She got a call from the counselor congratulating her and that she came off the list. We were actually scheduled to go to the accepted students day (the next day!) - so it made the visit even sweeter. They really went out of their way to make D feel welcome.
@belleforbroadway - I think Webster is sending out letters by the end of this week. We heard from them - my D was accepted into their lighting design tech program!
@lazs91 Thanks! Just eager to get answers so that we can start the decision phase. Only four more answers but my daughter is in tech this week for the spring musical so I am hoping to have answers next week so that we can move on. Congrats on your D acceptance. We love Webster!
Webster is always on the tail end of notifications. My D’s year, it was literally the last notification she received at the end of March.
@belleforbroadway - We are so new at this game- D is our only. My D only applied to 2 conservatories and she has been accepted to both. One is a state school- University of Arizona and the other is Webster. We visited Webster in November and she had her interview at that time. She loved the campus and the people she met. Although, she has not made her decision yet. What can you tell us about Webster? Why do you love it?
@lazs91 We have actually not visited the campus yet so the things that we love don’t really have anything to do with the campus. My daughter is a MT hopeful so that may make things slightly different. She has participated in a national singing competition since she was in 9th grade. Webster attends this competition and her interaction with the voice professors motivated her to check Webster out. Also, her audition , follow up and interview experiences with Lara teeter were wonderful. She loves the location in close proximity to a large city but not in New York. There four year training program which is intense and thorough is very appealing. They also collaborate with multiple professional theatres, two on campus, giving opportunities to work with professionals in the business, audition/crew shows and work with a children’s theatre for children with disabilities, which is something that my daughter is passionate about. If you have any specific questions, I will try to answer them but these are some of the basics that excite us about the program.
My S received Webster notification letter today, was a no.
@booknerdmom There is IWU though! Chin up.
My D loved Webster, too. The voice and acting training seems absolutely top shelf. It wasn’t until after our visit that we realized that they didn’t speak much about dance training. Of course, we forgot to inquire while we were there. Does anyone have any insight, thoughts, information, etc. about dance at Webster?
same no for D from Webster- I’m running out of options- 6 left
@XMRadio72 - since my D is tech- I don’t know much about their dance program; however during our visit we attended a dance show and it was phenomenal and well attended and appreciated by the audience. It is my understanding that all actors also must attend dance classes.
@belleforbroadway - My D also loved the proximity to a big city with culture! Did you know they give free annual metro passes to students? That is so cool! I agree with you about the opportunities and the 4 year intense training and also feel that not having an MFA program is a plus.
There was a Webster mom who used to participate here several years ago who had twin sons attending… Not sure if she’s still around but if you send a PM, and she’s still getting notifications, I’m sure she’d be a good resource or could point you in the right direction. She was Sue and her username was 5pants. You could also do a search for her posts.
Oh no. I’m so sorry. Completely feeling your pain. What schools do you have left?
Thanks! The info is a little dated, but very helpful.
@XMRadio72 My daughter studied dance very seriously at a conservatory here in CT for her entire childhood. The Artistic Director was James Robey who left a few years back and is now Dance Department Chair at Webster. He is beyond stellar and I cannot imagine that their Dance dept is not something quite wonderful. He was a master and a fine choreographer and perhaps the best teacher in any discipline my daughter has ever had bar none. One in a million! I cannot imagine the dance being anything but wonderful under James Robey. That is all I know…hope this helps !!
FYI, received a no in the mail today from Wagner but with an academic and music scholarship. eh
