Class of 2022 (the journey); sharing, venting, discussing

@#booknerdmom i completely agree about Mark Wade and Aaron - i think they are extremely knowledgeable. Mark has been very gracious in giving us his time and attention. Keep an eye on Arcadia! I think that is a little gem of a program that will grow. And like you said- you would definitely receive personal attention and mentoring there! We went and saw their musical this fall- tiny theater/ tiny stage - but wow it’s amazing what they can do with that small space. The show was hilarious (great American trailer Park musical) and great set/ lighting/ talented cast. We were really impressed!

Hi! I just got waitlisted for BFA MT at UW Stevens Point. Do any of you have experiences with waitlists and what the chances are of being accepted? Like, say they have one or two openings after people decline their offers, how do they select who does and doesn’t come off the waitlist? Also, what information does anyone have on the MT program at UWSP? I know there’s been a lot of alum success from that program, but I’ve heard both good and bad things about the school/program. Some people say they love it, others say they had really bad experiences. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Is anyone else still waiting to hear from Webster? When I called today, I got the standard “you will hear by 4/1”. When I pushed a little and said I’d heard of a few people already receiving acceptances and rejections, she said all program decisions go out at the same time so my D would probably hear “soon”.

@M2twins - I am surprised to hear Relativity is still around with the bankruptcy and everything a few years ago. I was sure they would fold. I don’t really know anything about the program specifically, but it wasn’t a place we considered due the way it was run.

We are also waiting to hear from Webster @dramamama2022 .

We got a rejection letter from webster Tuesday so maybe if you haven’t heard that’s better news
Also a redirect email early this morning from Ball state…if my bad news helps anyone else

I’m so sorry, @Trish0118 .

I am sorry @Trish0118 what was the redirect if I may ask? Acting vs MT?

Darn, @Trish0118! I’m so sorry. You, @DramaQueen219, and @NewEngMTMom are all in my thoughts - I"m praying for acceptances for all of you!

@hopeinmt theatre studies which seems like arts admin and other theatre related studies - you can look it up on their website - also said you can try to reaudition soph year…but that’s not a safe way to go …
@actorparent1 thank you so much . I’m praying too. This is brutal and heartbreaking on so many levels.

I have a friend whose son was accepted to Webster in MT last week.

Has anyone heard from Missouri State MT yet?

Northwestern decisions are posted fyi.

@Trish0118 This idea probably won’t help and I am not sure if admissions are closed yet, but Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, has a B.A. in Theater with a certificate or specialization in MT and its a really really good school and probably rivals some of the Cali beach schools for beauty (its on a lake). Disney and other arts venues make it a really great place for an MT student and its near UCF, which does have a BFA so there might be a transfer option there.

@futurestarmom, we are still waiting for Missouri State MT and acting!

We have a friend who went to Rollins @Noreplays2018 and she LOVED it! She has graduated and has been auditioning in Florida!

@Trish0118 A friend of my daughters (and I’m sure it is common) is a freshman in a Theatre studies BA program and re-auditioned at schools that allow transfers this year.

@MTdreamz - has your friend’s daughter been accepted yet to any of the schools she auditioned to transfer to?

@CMB625 What year did she graduate? Was she a Theater Major? Probably, duh, if she is auditioning. My oldest D is a sophomore now and equally loves the school, but not Orlando (in general) or Florida (she thought she did because she grew up spending magical Thanksgiving vacations with her grandfather and her cousins and everyone there at the beach but the reality of the sprawl is a lot different at 20 than the beach was at 10).

Anyone still waiting on that first magical acceptance, check out this thread: C/O 2022 Schools and Programs with Extended Deadlines as of March 14th 2018
