@Trish0118 , I would call Montclair if I were you. They have rolling admission, so they usually get audition results back within a few weeks. You should have heard by now. Plus they’re notorious for being disorganized on the administrative front. It doesn’t hurt to call!
Re: UAB, we attended an informational meeting at Chicago Unifieds. Enthusiastic and passionate staff/faculty running the program. They seem to do lots of new works. I would say they are light on dance from the questions that were asked. Young program, but if we had lived near the southeast we would have visited.
@lazs91 Not sure yet; My D wants to take all of her “officials” before deciding but I get the impression she’s leaning toward Webster for now …
We start our “College MT visit your” tomorrow @ Ball State, then ONU, Otterbein and CCPA next week. We finally “Re-visit” Webster in mid-April to coincide with their presentation of “Brigadoon” (we set up all visits like that as the “finished MT product” is important to my D in her decision-making process, with the exception of ONU whose musical doesn’t open until the third weekend in April when each family member has committments in separate cities)…her mom and I are familiar with STL having lived there for a short time before our two kids were born - so we have an affinity for it; we also visited the City Museum last July - crazy place and a lot of fun for kids (although not as fun trying to navigate all those tubes and tunnels for “bigger” guys my size LOL!)…STL is also within a day’s drive from our home in Omaha so that’s a plus…And we love Forest Park and all that it has to offer, not the least of which is the MUNY outdoor amphitheater at which I’m pretty sure my D would love to perform someday.
All that said, my D could fall in love with any of the five campuses - even the ultra-urban setting of CCPA (my sister lives in suburban Chicago and has some connections in the theater biz there - and the intern and outside audition opportunities would be hard to top)…we are also still waiting to hear from BoCo, but that was just a video submission so we’re not holding our breath on them; I’ve toured the exterior part of BoCo last year, and while it’s in a nice part of downtown Beantown I would expect the COA for BoCo to be relatively horrendous - I mean it IS Boston, after all and I don’t have a counterfeiting operation set up yet in my basement to print money LOL!
It’s going to be a interesting next 5 weeks to say the least…I hope your D enjoys Webster!!
@theaterwork thank you I’ll look into SUNY Cortland but auditions for UAB same day…
@actorparent1 thank you- we were the very last audition this past Saturday…we had it last because it wasn’t where my D wanted originally because she wanted to be out of NJ where we live- but surprisingly the campus was nice and she had a good feeling about it- plus the price is right!
@Trish0118 call or email Montclair. My D auditioned way back in January and finally contacted them last week via email since we didn’t hear anything. They said we would have the decision via snail mail by end of that week, and yes, she finally got the rejection at the end of last week. I’m pretty sure we’d still be waiting if she hadn’t reached out to them - obviously, had to prod them a bit. And just a heads up, Montclair sent D a big envelope with Congratulations in the first sentence… I hope you receive better news!
@Trish0118 I second contacting them. S did and got his answer over the phone about 3 weeks ago yet we still didn’t receive any notice via email/portal/mail.
Anyone else have a child with a bad case of seniorits? It’s ike - she knows she is outta there, she is DONE!
@Trish0118 - my phone isn’t cooperating- was going to message you about UAB. Great young program with beautiful performance facilities. I’ll be home tonight & will try to message you!
HANG IN THERE!!This time last year we were panicking after the dreaded Nos started coming in and added some last min. additional schools, but in the end he was offered from one of his original top picks and HE LOVES IT! I mean really! Like, he calls it home now. I don’t see him ever moving back “home”. It makes this Momma very happy that he has found “His People”. So it is true what the say, TRUST the system. You want your child to be in the best fit for them.
Just heard that NYU tweeted to check the portal after 6:00 pm tonight!
@mommaofdramma I heard that too
Rooting for you NYUers. We are still waiting on 3 schools with no MT acceptances.
Has anyone heard from NYU yet? It’s after 6pm here and there has been no change.
Numerous students on the Acting board have reported results!
The results are on the portals even if you didn’t get an e-mail yet!
Rejected
My S got waitlisted from NYU! I am happy because it is not a NO and he has gotten sooooooo many NO’s. Helps him feel better at least even if is doesn’t work out.
I know there has been a little talk about UAB and late auditions. My daughter emailed them this week and here was their response:
"Thank you very much for reaching out. Are you looking for admission for this coming Fall 2018? We are unable to accept anyone into the BFA Program until they have been admitted to the university – have you applied to UAB? Additionally, we do have one more on-campus audition date, but we have already made offers for the program and at this point, we will be accepting students on to the waiting list. "
The email makes it sound like they’ve made all offers and if they do like you you’ll be added to the wait-list…??? Not sure…
@Trish0118 my friend’s daughter got a yes from Hartt today! good luck to your daughter! My D is also still waiting on BOCO and Montclair but she has an offer she loves so I’m not beating down any doors for any more answers
@MTdaughter99 we visit Webster next week in time to see Fly By Night-- wish we could make it for Brigadoon which coincides with the 50th anniversary. That should be special. Best of luck to your D with her decision and maybe they’ll be classmates!
