Are there any Pace MT families here? If so, do they use the Estill voice method?
Or any other schools? My D heard Point Park and Univ of Michigan might but none of these have been confirmed.
Thanks!

Silly question, probably… When I bring my D to sit in on classes at a school she will probably commit to, do I go too? Probably not, right?
@fancytheatrekid At both schools we went to sit in on after acceptance - the faculty graciously offered but I declined.
@fancytheatrekid I didn’t even think to ask to sit in. I’m not going to be the one in college, my daughter is, and she’ll be there without me. She didn’t need her mom on class with her, lol. I didn’t even go on the personal tour with her and the theater student until she texted me and said “mom, it’s ok if you want to meet up with us…”
@fancytheatrekid, I brought my D to 2 schools where she’s been accepted to attend classes. I met the kids briefly, but did not sit in on any classes.
@fancytheatrekid I also declined to sit in. I’m sure it would have been enjoyable but I’m pretty sure my D would have melted into the floor
@fancytheatrekid I did not sit in. I did not need to; mine knows what she’s looking for. But I think she thought I was going to (time for me to cut the cord!) I went to Starbucks instead and charged my phone!
My d just got an email from Marymount. Released from the waitlist. Apparently ‘demonstrated increased interest’ doesn’t always make a difference.
I am more than okay with this, as an acceptance at this point would have complicated the decision making process. Now that she has a solid acceptance, and hoping she commits by the end of the week.
@dramaqueen219 - I am sorry to hear that. My D turned down her acceptance last Friday. However, as Waitlists go, I think a lot of these schools accept more than they expect will commit. Marymount told us they expected a class of 35 BA-MT students, but there were probably about 70 on MMU’s accepted student chat room on their site the last time I checked. I am glad you have a solid acceptance and am sure your D will be very happy!!!
@Fergie978 so it sounds like they have more than enough, without going on to the WL. They had told us that we likely wouldn’t hear until mid may, but I guess they already can see what their numbers are looking like.
@fancytheatrekid from my observation at a few schools, they like for the parents to not be around so that the students objective and opinions are of the student they usually have suggestions for the parents to do while waiting
Good luck! this is all exciting
@fancytheatrekid, At Rider they told us about one class they had room for us to sit in on, and told us the others were just for the students. I didn’t go to the one they invited us to. I figured it was HER that needed to feel comfortable with the class, and she couldn’t if I was there watching her. Oh, I should mention, we didn’t “sit in” on classes - they had classes for the accepted students to participate in. It was fun for her… especially without parents sitting around. They could be themselves and see what it was really like.
@fancytheatrekid - I agree with all the posts, but at the two schools we have visited so far, they had separate things for parents. I enjoyed those- lots of Q&A, so I would say that you should definitely go to the school with your D. (Even if they have nothing for you, you can ask students that you run into questions- and your D will never know!)
@fancytheatrekid my D had already committed but two others hadn’t. I went to the classes with the other moms and it was completely fine and welcomed. I enjoyed seeing what she’d experience and was quite impressed. This was at Coastal Carolina, btw.
Anybody hearing anything about Wagner wait list?
I think @fancytheatrekid got moved up off the Wagner WL.
@onewaytobroadway If this is THE ONE, then commit asap. It will HELP your chances of getting more award money when they see you are not just “saying” it’s your Number 1 choice - but that you are actually committed.
@DramaQueen219 and @MThopeful2022 I call it a waste of all those non-refundable application and audition fees!

@daughtersdreams , it was D’s 18th birthday on Sunday and the only thing she wanted was to commit, so we did! I got a very nice email from the department chair yesterday thanking us for our faith in them and promising it was still a consideration. I’ll be posting our story soon on the final decisions page.
D is committing to Wagner Theatre Performance! Here we go!
