@dontaskme1 - I don’t remember if we specifically addresses the acceptance rate but there are a few thread from last year’s discussions on LIU that you might want to look at.
My daughter got am email from Molloy/Cap 21 today saying she’s been accepted and inviting her to accepted students day but she cant access their portal. She doesn’t know if it’s academic or artistic. Did anyone else get a similar email? It had a video, including referencing Pippin.
@MTMOM17 Sounds promising! Normally academic acceptances don’t come through in texts - that sounds like an artistic admit. My daughter when through the same thing last year when she got her Hartt acceptance via text and then email. But I needed to call the school just to be 100 percent certain because it just was somewhat vague and in this process you are always afraid to celebrate prematurely. Fingers crossed for your daughter!!
We received it too and I almost didn’t even look at it…it came to my phone. The text starts out “check out this video” so I thought it was spam. We can’t access the portal either so I don’t want to jump to any conclusions and I’m not even going to mention this to my daughter right now.
I got a text to my phone from CAP 21 Molloy to look at a video of future classmates and it says it is for accepted students. But we did not receive any kind of acceptance letter. I don’t think they even have a portal, do they?
They have a portal and I I was able to check it until a few days ago. Now I get an error message. The wording of the video sounds a bit like it was written by a student: “Congratulations on your acceptance to Molloy college. We heard you were interest in the performing arts”. Wow, Really? Rebecca Overton sent out an email to the kids a few weeks ago reminding them to apply to the school if they hadn’t already, and said decisions would be made mid-march. I suspect that this was sent in error, but who knows?
@MTMOM17 & @Isaboo The Molloy/Cap21 portal is lionsden.molloy.edu, if you are accepted I think there are instruction on the front page for how to log in. Then you can tell if you are listed as a BFA major or not. My guess is that it is academic acceptance as that is how it was for us last year. Also, the Pippin show is put on by the Student club that is not connected to CAP21 at all. You can always email Rebecca Overton, the recruitment coordinator for CAP21 to confirm.
Ours says “You and a guest are invited to enjoy the talents of your future classmates in Pippin presented by the Molloy Performing Arts Club. Entrance is free with your High School ID.” Then the video says Congratulations on being accepted…etc. Sounds like an academic acceptance and not Cap21.
@collegemom2000 - did you try using the new student account retrieval tool? I believe there is a link to it on the home page of the portal. I remember it not being especially user friendly last year.
Folks, these are academic acceptances. The Molloy Performing Arts Club is not affiliated with the BFA program (although I’m told that the BFA freshmen have pretty much taken it over). Artistic acceptances will come later. Hang in there!
Isn’t the acceptance process for Molloy/Cap21 all or nothing? I wasn’t aware that it was a separate academic acceptance and that you could still attend Molloy with an artistic acceptance. If that is the case this text was really misleading. I saw the text and video it referred you to. The video starts by saying “Congratulations on your acceptance…” How did a student club get phone numbers of prospective students to send out texts? I hope they correct this for future applicants. It was tough on a few students I know to think there was an acceptance and then find out it was a mistake.
I agree, @Pohsmom . And there are probably kids out there who aren’t on CC/in contact with other applicants who STILL may think it’s a legit acceptance.
