Molloy/Cap21 is just like most other schools, you have to be accepted both academically to Molloy College and artistically to the Cap21 MT program. And just like all other schools that invite you to attend new student acceptance events once you are accepted academically, so does Molloy. I doubt it is the student club that sent out the text messages, I would guess it is the admissions office. They just are capitalizing on the fact that your student indicated an interest in the Performing Arts club and trying to attract you to the school by inviting you to see the show. We received several emails/phone calls and letters from many of the schools my D was academically accepted to last year promoting their accepted students activities, both before and after we knew if she was accepted or not to their MT program.
I fully understand this but when a student receives a link to a video that is titled "Molloy College Accepted Students/Performing Arts and the first words are “Congratulations”…I think it is insensitive knowing that there will be a lot of confusion as to what it means. This one particular major is unlike any other and I think it should be considered when solicited academically accepted students. Perhaps if it came AFTER these kids were informed they were academically accepted by Portal or email it would have made more sense. Just a thought…
Reminds me of when my daughter received her package from SUNY Cortland. It was a big envelope. When you opened it it had “CONTRATULATIONS” across the front of it. I was so excited! Inside was a letter which was an academic acceptance which also said “congratulations” behind it was the rejection from MT.
My daughter has not received anything regarding an academic acceptance except this text. Therefore I guess I’m not even sure that part is real.
Quite a few schools do this…they extend an academic admission first and try to lure you to the school, often with a lucrative FA package. This happened to my D at Pace and Wagner… beaucoup bucks to attend, but no artistic acceptance. Molloy apparently is doing the same. At least your kiddos got the academic part done. Artistic acceptances are only a few weeks away!
@EastchesterMom yep. My child got a massive scholarship to Pace and didn’t even pass the pre-screen. All it does is make me hate them. lol
@collegemom2000 - I couldn’t agree more! Pace pestered my D for months trying to get her to attend even after she got the artistic no.
Celebrating my daughter’s last college audition yesterday! Yay! All DONE! Canceled the last two audtions (Baldwin Wallace and AMDA) since she decided she doesn’t want to go to either of those places. Still - 9 auditions was a LOT of hard work! Five were pre-screens (Pace, Ithaca, Syracuse, Penn State, and Rider) and 4 were general calls (Point Park, NYU, Marymount, CCM). I am a BIG fan of the Pre-screen, due to the process being so much more simpler at the audition!
Break Legs, Everyone! Good Luck on your journey! :-h
@collegemom2000 and @EastchesterMom …same. And it doesn’t stop. DD is going to call them on Tuesday and tell them she declines. Every. Piece. Of. Mail that comes in just bugs us more and more.
Pace is particularly aggressive that way. We had to tell them to stop the calls as well.
Just like @Fergie978 we are celebrating D’s last audition (yesterday)…drove home on awful, snowy roads last night and saying how happy and relieved we were that this part of the process is over. She withdrew 2 other auditions …
Now we wait… my fingers are crossed for everyone here…
We drove home on those snowy roads last night, too. D is done with her initial rounds. She is going to Guthrie this weekend for callbacks and withdrawing from a March audition. The waiiitttinggg is the hardest part
My D graduated from Pace in May and we’re still getting calls from them about campus weather closings!
Is anyone else having trouble logging onto the Penn State portal? S keeps getting an error message when he’s checking for his dicision and is now wondering if they deactivated his account because we’ve heard of other schools doing that if it’s not a positive outcome.
@PaMTmom keep checking at different times. I found that there would often be error, etc when checking the portal with my D. My D was not accepted to the MT program and her portal is still active.
Kids who auditioned at LA unifieds are getting decisions
@artskids and @MThopeful2022 we drove home in awful snow last night too. It was our last ‘road trip’ (God willing). One more local audition next week, and I am hoping we can cancel the last two (which are scheduled after some of the decisions should be in) . No acceptances yet. Now I’m getting nervous.
Ithaca was yesterday; they said they will start making decisions immediately, because this was their last audition. I know people have already gotten 'no’s from them, but no one has gotten any 'yes’s (she confirmed this yesterday in the orientation).
Glad that you are home safe, @DramaQueen219 ! Keep the faith. Still early.
@DramaQueen219 - my D had to wait until March 23 for her 1st BFA acceptance, then got 3 in a week. Keep the faith, it’s still early days
Does anyone know when Montclair let’s people know? I auditoned NYC Unifieds.
