@savedrama4momma : My dear old dad who is gone now would always say “what doesn’t kill you always makes you stronger!” Best wishes to you and your D!
My Rider portal says I’ve been accepted to the BA in Theatre. Does anyone know if this is what happens for everyone that doesn’t get in to the BFA? Is it a non-audition program?
How do you determine if you are rejected via the Montclair portal? Portal for D has changed to say audition was received but no other change. When clicking on decision letter it just loads indefinitely and never opens. Still says undeclared/undecided otherwise. Does that mean a “no” or should I be looking for something else?
@Noreplays2018 Thank you! What a kind message. My D was okay about this one. There are others that will be harder but I really appreciate your kindness.
@Noreplays2018 Sorry hit send too soon.Sorry about Michigan. Hope that your D finds her perfect fit soon!
Thanks @BassTheatreMom for letting me know about when the last acceptances from Northwestern U. are sent out…and sorry but where we live, we recognize “NU” as the University of Nebraska (which BTW doesn’t have MT, only a lesser-know theater program as well as a better-known vocal music performance/education degree); My D has a friend from HS who is a Music Performance Freshman at NW (i.e. Northwestern) and he is a very good student academically and a great piano player (which is probably how he made it into NW)…I’m guessing your son may know him!
D likes the acting program there @ NW and if she was accepted (and then she was admitted), she would tryout for their MT concentration/minor that starts during the Sophomore year there…but right now she is excited to visit all of the campuses she’s been accepted @ for MT. I love the prestige of NW but not sure they are very strong in MT, esp. for limiting themselves to 3 years for it - but I also know they’ve put out some successful MT alumns on Broadway.
@savedrama4momma I’m sorry to hear about your D’s rejection from Shen. Last year we too had one that really stung, but thankfully she got one she really wanted
Sending good vibes your way!
Montclair is a no for us
via portal
@mommaofdrama us too! Oh man- No from Montclair, U Arts and ShenCo all in 24 hours… fun fun.
@savedrama4momma I’m sorry
I’m sure lots of you are thinking what I’m thinking…“what if they don’t get in anywere?” Mine literally has no interest in anything else and even if she did, would it be too late at this point? Idk anymore
It’s just there’s so many kids auditioning, the numbers are not in our favor.
I’m so sorry @mommaofdrama and @savedrama4momma
We have our no from Mich today. This is for the birds.
@mommaofdrama keep the faith! I just truly believe there will be a path to pursue your daughters passion even if it requires a few twists and turns and stepping off the “beaten path” perhaps. Hang in there- i am sending out a virtual hug to you and all the amazing MT parents and your kids. Truly in awe of what goes into this process.
I’m sorry @mommaofdrama @notforthefaintofheart @savedrama4momma. I’m hoping that you get in at least 1 of your top choices. In the end, this is all that matters and if it hasn’t happened yet, it’s not the end
Our kids have to believe that especially in this business.
For those of you who do not often bounce back and forth between MT and theater forums - there is a NIGHTMARE going on for one of the tech parents- I encourage you to take a look - and then send this mom some love and support
Amen to that @toowonderful! Truly a complete travesty. Makes the Mama Bear in me just start to shake on her behalf.
Oh my gosh!!! I just looked at that link and read the discussion @toowonderful that is just horrible- i don’t even know what to say and i am sad just thinking about how we would navigate that if it happened to our daughter.
@toowonderful - I just read it, too. All the nightmares my D and I experienced pale in comparison. I have no words.
Ugh, I’m awfully sorry. This is brutal.
Just got an acceptance to the Hartt School (BFA Music Theatre). The first big one for us. My D is so excited!
My daughter found out today that she did not get a talent scholarship from one of the two schools that have offered acceptance. They did offer her a huge merit scholarship but apparently the $2000 that this school offers for talent means that they really want her and now that she didn’t get it she feels that they don’t think she is talented. She is waiting on 4 more schools including her #1 and honestly I think that this is just the catalyst for a meltdown. I am feeling so down for her and this process and especially reading the take back thread I just am over the whole thing.
Congrats to all who have received acceptances the past couple of days and a sincere I am so sorry to those who have heard the dreaded no.
