Class of 2023 Decisions

I got denied

In-state Hispanic Male
1460 SAT
3.4 UW/4.5 W (My UF recalculated is probably 4.1-4.3)
10 APs
Many ECs: Track and Field, Cross Country, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society
200+ Volunteer Hours

I got accepted into the PaCE program which is not what I was hoping for. Does anyone know of anyone who was able to change their admission “term” or be taken out of PaCE? I’ll call Monday and see if there is a way I guess.

Accepted In-state!

1510 SAT
35 ACT
4.0 UW GPA
4.5 UF GPA
Major: Comp Sci
Good ECs, essay, and 200+ volunteer hours
17 AP classes
Legacy (sister)

Congratulations to all those accepted! Richly deserved.

My heart goes out to those who were denied. I’m amazed and a bit baffled at all the high stats students who didn’t get in. The admissions process really can be a vexing and seemingly random experience. It’s going to sting for awhile, but then you’ll get back on your feet and move on. This is a tough and resilient group!

D is still at her dance recital and won’t be checking the admissions decision for another 2 hours. [-O<

@Melissa96 Any thoughts as to why UF constantly changes it’s policy on admittance to the honors? One year it’s automatic SAT/ACT then it switches to based on essays. Odd that essays which “can” be helped and are subjective depending on the reader are valued more than 4 years of gpa/SAT/ACT/NMF.

@moscott I don’t work for honors but last year the change was made to make the honors decisions earlier. Since it was new and people were previously told the old process of applying after decisions it ended up being a bit of both. This year with the question on the application that students wanting honors wrote separate essays and honors did their holistic review separate and simultaneous to admissions and I expect it to continue this way moving forward.

@Melissa96 Ah thanks. That would explain why it changed but not why they would value essay vs other criteria listed above.

@moscott. It is holistic so GPA and test score are considered with the essay.

@Melissa96 So just for clarification for others wondering the same thing…are you saying that a student with a 30ACT for example with a great essay could get the nod over a 36 ACT but let’s say a good essay?

@moscott that’s improbable but not impossible I suppose.

Does anyone know what the $2k Honors admission scholarship is?

same thing happened to me. I had 34 act and 3.94/4 UW GPA while taking 5 Ads this year alone. Meanwhile kids with much lower test scores and gpas got in at my school. its frustrating but I and your soon will both end up at the place that is best for us.

Yikes, that speaks volumes.

Got into UF honors program and UF undergraduate Research Scholars Program and admissions scholarship for 2K. Anyone know what the research thing is?

Good luck to her…sincerely!

Congrats! My daughter also got the research. Do you know what that is?

1420 SAT, 31 ACT, 3.7 UW, 10 AP’s, top 10 in-state high school. Various EC’s (lacrosse, FBLA, volunteering, etc.) Applied for summer and was rejected.

Will likely go to FSU (accepted with Freshman Scholarship).

GO NOLES

@Melissa96 My son is duel enrolled and will complete his AA prior to high school graduation. He is currently ranked 32 out of 765. Unweighted GPA 3.94 with a weighted GPA of 4.68.

The letter stated that “Next week, you will receive an email when your transfer application has been created. You should be prepared upload a transcript for each college you have attended” Does this mean UF will create the transfer application?

@aznman21 Congratulations on getting accepting to UF! Information on the PaCE program can be found here: https://ufonline.ufl.edu/admissions/pace-program. There will be two informational chats coming up the last two weeks of February and you can register for them here: https://ufonline.ufl.edu/admissions/pace-chats/.
