Class of 2023 Decisions

Hi all- I got the Gator Nation OOS Scholarship. I was wondering how many people get this. Also, how does this work if I have Florida Pre-Paid (I lived in Florida for my first 7 years)? Finally, is the online acceptance rate updated it says 48%? Congrats to all accepted!

48% acceptance rate? It hasn’t been that for years, the yield (% of accepted students that enroll) is about 50% (lower for OOS students)…

@irvington did you just receive the scholarship? Has any other OOS Students received any scholarship info yet? Did you get accepted to an honors program? I was under the assumption all financials would not be out until beginning of March. congrats!

The OOS Sunshine Scholarship is in DS’s portal! We are so excited and grateful!

@mom3boyz My son is OOS and was notified by email that he had a scholarship. It also shows up in the admissions portal. Good luck!

@mom3boyz - SFA will have their packages out the beginning of march.

@SE1619 @chunkylegs did this come with acceptance? Is this their Gator link?

No, it did not come w admission but showed up a bit later in the admissions portal @mom3boyz https://my.admissions.ufl.edu/apply/status

2nd round decisions come March 29th! (rip for the wait)

@mom3boys Thanks! I got an email and an update to my portal around 12 PST. I don’t think I was accepted to the honors program, I would have seen that in the email, correct?

@mom3boys My son was notified yesterday around noon via email that he had an update to his application. He received the OOS Gator Nation scholarship. He did not apply to the honors program, so I can’t speak to that.

Son’s stats…

Accepted
1490 SAT
3.8 gpa unweighted
4.5 gpa weighted
In-state
Ranking: 9 out of 297

If my daughter applied recently, when does the decision come out? She thinks that she can only get accepted if someone turns their acceptance down. She just decided that she wanted to apply yesterday.

@lilac9 They only accept a handful of students, that apply after the Nov 1’st deadline. The Admission Decision Notification will be by March 29th.

My kid got into both University of Florida and University of Illinois Urbana Champagne for Mechanical Engineering. Now it is hard to choose for us. Any idea on UF Mechanical engineering class size and prospects

@Seminole123 in terms of national prestige, UIUC is definitely ranked higher, but not by too much
I’d go with your in-state option, neither school is worth significantly more than the other

@Seminole123 The decision may come down to where S/D thinks he or she would do best, since you have two outstanding choices. FWIW – our S turned down Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and UF engineering to go to UCF, and he absolutely loves it. He’s a sophomore in mechanical engineering and already has a paid internship at Mitsubishi power conversion (their North American HQ) in the Orlando area. He’s definitely sold on settling in FL.

My daughter is deciding between UF and Univ of WI-Madison for business. Anyone have experience with either or both? Which has better recognition nationally?

My daughter has been accepted to the Wertheim College of Engineering as well as some other impressive engineering programs out of state. Any thoughts or advice? Thank you!

@collegedadto3 both are considered second-tier public (after “public Ivies”)
Idk about specific programs, but they are solid, fairly well-rounded schools

Cost & fit should be a greater factor in this scenario
