@CaMom13 I think you know a Steinhardt student? @TennMTMom There’s a brief thread here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/nyu-steinhardt-mt/2075569-difference-between-steinhardt-mt-and-tisch-mt.html#latest or I’m sure there’s a Steinhardt accepted students’ page on Facebook that your D can join and ask questions. My daughter did the summer program and LOVED it!
Has anyone gotten off the waitlist at Ball State? Wondering if there tends to be movement or if we should just mentally cross it off DS’ list.
@DramaLlama18 - not Steinhardt MT, alas.
My D is still on Priority WL at Ball State.
There is a FB group for accepted students at Utah. Search Utah MT 2023 under groups.
@TennMTMom - I don’t know anyone at Steinhardt, but my D accepted her offer to Belmont MT a couple of weeks ago! She is so excited and has been very impressed with the students and faculty who have reached out to her so far!
If anyone is waiting on Montclair, they are holding more auditions tomorrow and notifications should be sent out next week.
For those of you still on wait lists. KEEP THE FAITH. I have been encouraging my D to keep in touch with her WL all along and the most amazing thing just happened. She got a phone call during her choir class and it was Unv of OK calling to give her a spot in their MT program and she has been offered more scholarship money as well! The director said she was foremost in their minds because we have kept in contact and she was the first person they called because of it! I also know that it is working with another college too that we have been emailing because they also told us that if there is movement they will be calling her as well! So don’t be discouraged, just be persistent. I don’t remember who it was on here, but I want to thank them for that valuable tip of keeping in touch with your WL colleges!
@mommyMT Congrats to your D! Oklahoma was in the top two for my DD who decided that Ithaca was a better fit for her. We really enjoyed our visit to Norman and meeting the faculty and students. OU is a wonderful program and Ashton is the real deal. I am glad her persistence paid off - it is a valuable characteristic to have in this career!
Congrats @mommyMT!!! So good to hear. We need to reach out to our WL school cause the only thing my D has done was to send a updated resume and additional rec for her file the day after she got the WL. How and what frequency to staying in touch do you recommend?
@3Blessings - your D should email them, tell them she is still interested in remaining on the waitlist, that they are her top choice and that she has not yet committed anywhere else. If it’s true, have her tell them if she is admitted she will definitely accept. As more people have visited their accepted schools, and the closer it gets to May 1st, there will be more movement. My D initially contacted WL schools right after she got the offers, and then again about this time last year. She came off of a WL on May 1st.
Thank you @3Blessings and @Divamamacita!!
@3Blessings, we contacted all our WL right after we were notified, then again at the beginning of April, then again after she was taken off one of her other WL and given an early deadline to decide. She told the director she would ask for more time if the director was still considering her, if there was WL movement. Each time he got back to her and told her she was being considered, so earlier this week she asked for more time with the other school and let a few programs go. She told him as much so he knew how interested she was still. So I guess she contacted them 3-4 times.
FYI…Utah’s WL is moving. My daughter came off waitlist and accepted into MT program yesterday.
Anyone in the group considering Millikin? D is in for BFA MT. Still struggling to decide. She liked the kids, program and faculty but the size and location are really weighing on her… Would love to hear from anyone considering yes
or why you decided no.
@frisbee3 I know some parents who have freshman there. Happy to send you contact info if you DM me.
@frisbee3 I have a mom friend with a very happy freshman MT d at Millikin
@frisbee3 I just committed to Millikin, but for BFA Acting. Regarding size, I personally loved the size because when I visited I could walk across the whole campus in about 10 minutes probably, so I like that it’s not huge. And about location- it is a really small town but the area is beautiful! I had lunch with an MT senior during my visit and he said something that made him choose Millikin is that he thought he would get distracted going to college in a big city. Of course, it’s a personal preference thing, but something worth considering!
@frisbee3 we are! Its between Millikin and another program. 2 different programs/2different sizes & geography. Having difficulty deciding because each one has their pros/cons.
@mtkid01 and @MTdreamin My D committed to Millikin earlier this week. So excited for her and congrats to you guys too!!! GO BIG BLUE!!!
