Yes thatās exact. You can switch into Smeal from DUS after completing the ETM classes with the required grades (you need to be roughly top 25% in every class for finance, top 40% otherwise).
But you canāt switch into Smeal from BBH or IST or another major. Although I suppose you could switch to IST then switch to DUS at orientation and then 3 semesters later switch from DUS to whateverā¦

Was hoping for fall start, even though said OK to summer. Unfortunately summer start probably a deal-breaker for her. After seeing some similar stats posted here, now wish she would have said no to summer start, but you just never know since her stats were slightly below middle 50%. Cost is definitely a factor, and she really doesnāt want to give up her entire summer before jumping into fall - donāt really blame her. Now that D has a couple other acceptances under her belt, including Pitt, and still waiting to hear back regular decision from a few others, PSU has fallen way down on the list. Too bad, was hoping it would be a viable option for her.
Congrats to all accepted and good luck with your ultimate decisions.
The liberal arts majors and college of Agriculture seem to be less competitive than DUS these last couple of years. That would likely be your best shot. Did your son select summer option? That also helps.
For Smeal, you have to be a DUS or pre smeal major in order to apply at the end of your sophomore year. So changing to Liberal arts or Ag would be a back door in with the intention of major changing. Itās complicated but can be done. But keep in mine when you do that, you are taking the spot away from someone who DOES want that major. Just food for thought.
Nope. You were already considered for fall and they didnāt feel you could be accepted there, so you were offered summer. They are not going to reconsider you for something that youāve already been considered for. For reconsideration, there has to be a substantial change in your applicationā¦major, campus, etcā¦
i still havenāt gotten my EA decision yet, I applied to the nursing school. Im so nervous because i hear the nursing program is super competitive and my SAT plus GPA arenāt exactly top notch (just average). When should I hear back? do they send an email or do yāall have to keep checking the portal?
