Class of 2024 Admissions Decisions ONLY-Penn State

.

Almostgrace, I noticed you only took part in freshman basketball. Did you not continue this commitment because you didn’t make the team or rather playing a sport was too much to handle with such grades? Would like to know.?

I applied the same day and haven’t heard back either. I wonder if hearing later means you’re more likely to get rejected? Has anyone actually be rejected early?

Lately, we’ve just begun to see some Liberal Arts acceptances on this thread (mainly OOS). My PA son applied on 10/31 (Liberal Arts - Philosophy), but we haven’t heard back yet. Are your applications also Liberal Arts? Could that be the reason?

I applied for psych so that might be it

I personally think it’s still way too early in the game to be worried! I know it’s hard when you see others who have already heard, but there is plenty of time. Try to breathe and distract yourself with things you love to do.

@vixpixal I know it is frustrating to wait. Don’t despair. They have lots of decisions to roll out. (and by decisions, I mean acceptances).

A few things I have heard (anecdotally):

  1. EA decisions will be mostly complete by Dec. 20th (and updated into your portal by the morning of the 21st). I don’t know if they are working the 23rd?

  2. They are trying to get to all applications and not just do blanket deferrals like last year.

  3. They hope to defer less kids to RD from EA. Last year, a lot of kids were deferred - some for those mid-range stats, some because they just truly didn’t get to it. They hope to make more ā€œrealā€ decisions for the EA round than just passing them to the next round.

I wouldn’t anticipate any decisions after the morning of Saturday 12/21 (meaning a Friday night update at midnight.)

The official University holidays are Monday, December 23, through Friday, December 27, 2019; Monday, December 30, 2019; and Wednesday, January 1, 2020. Technically they are open on 12/31, but most staff are taking off that day. Just guessing, but I think the next release would be on/about 1/2 or 1/3, if you don’t hear back before holidays.

Waiting stinks…OPC is maddening…Son applied 8/1 for HHD and still hasn’t heard. I just keep reminding myself to be patient.

My daughter applied for Psychology too and we haven’t heard anything either.

@scotrotsios I applied as a Nursing Major, not Liberal Arts. I’ve seen a few acceptances on here into that major and it’s making me nervous because my SAT is borderline (1200) but my GPA is decent (3.76uw/4.2w)…idk anymore. Feeling stressed.

@Sophley, mine is also HHD. I think I have only seen one HHD and that is a high scorer.

my daughter applied to psych as well back in August and we haven’t heard yet either

Have any rejections been released??? Starting to loose hope as several kids who applied after me already have been accepted …

My daughter decided not to try out because she didn’t enjoy playing at the high school level. She doesn’t have that intense and competitive athletic drive. After that, she became very involved in leadership and volunteer activities which are more her speed.

It is WAAAAAYYY too early to be concerned. They don’t do applications in order so who applied when and who heard when means absolutely nothing in the decision outcome.

Hi, Has anyone got any scholarship from Penn state in the offer letter? Not sure if they announce scholarships together with offer letters or later on.
