@MaybeFordhamDad
Historically, UofSC has had two waves of Honors acceptances. First wave is in late December, then another wave in February. Invites for the Top Scholars interview weekend usually go out in mid January, and those candidates seem to be selected from the early wave of Honors admits.
Was accepted Darla Moore, Business-Undeclared. (Second choice was CAS, Mathematics).
My girls got their honors college packets in the mail today. Super quick.
Any idea where I would be able to check to see if I got into the Honors College yet? Also if anyone already has - mind posting your stats?
@“k_atherine.h” I got an email and a letter. If you sign into the USC application portal, it should also be updated. But this was just the first wave of acceptances. I’m instate and got my acceptance in the first wave. I don’t know if this helps, but the letter did say that there were a record number of applicants this year, so I’m sure it’s just taking them a while to get through them all.
Son accepted to Honors. Received email & letter dated 12/23.
OOS
ACT 35, GPA 98/100
Anyone else get an email recently encouraging application to International Business Cohort program?
DS did not declare interest in international business. Are students in this program usually in Honors?
We are hoping he is admitted to Honors and gets the in-state tuition scholarship…but he is not interested in Intl Business (he plans a different minor). Letter mentioned him being targeted due to high math ACT score and currently taking Calculus.
@sunnyschool
Yes my son received the same email today. He was accepted to the Darla Moore Business School, but never specified an interest in International Business. He applied to the Honors School though.
@sunnyschool
I just checked with my S, and he did not get any emails from UofSC today. He has already been admitted to Honors, with a major unrelated to business. He also had a high math ACT and is currently taking Calculus.
My son got the Business Cohort email as well. I assumed it went out to all Darla Moore students. Seems super competitive and involved.
Hi I’m applying to uofsc and it is my top choice. I initially applied to the business school, but after finding out the major was so competitive I decided to apply undecided.
I have a 3.9 GPA (5 APs) with an 1120 SAT
Although my score is low, I do have other qualities in my application such as, being a student representative/ liaison for my school, outstanding community service award, top ten at states for DECA, attended a business camp, networked with businesses and interned with a few of them over the summer, NHS, SHS, board position for Habitat for Humanity and DECA and also participate in other community service and had a good supplemental on character.
I got deferred from USC but do I still have a good chance of getting in? How much weight do they put on SAT scores? And will my extra curricular activities help?
If you’re in-state, you have a very good chance of getting into UofSC in the regular decision. For an out-of-state, you might be slightly below the average, but I still feel you have a good chance considering you are going in as undecided. The early decisions were only for well above average kids with SAT up in the high 1200s and higher along with GPAs that are nearly perfect with over half of those classes either honors or APs. They may look at your extra activities, but to Clemson and UofSC (South Carolina’s large universities), SAT, GPA, and class rank are really what they look for.
Collegedata posted these stats for people last year who were wait listed. I know you were deferred, so your odds are much much better
Students Offered Wait List 3,814
Students Accepting Wait List Position 199
Students Admitted From Wait List 125
Has anyone heard if there is another wave of Honors college acceptances.
My S acceptance letter (12/16) already indicated he will get an OOS scholarship, (in state tuition + additional amount TBD) and the letter he received said Honors information to come in February.
BUT- it seems some have already gotten notfication. Are there multiple waves?
@kirkhaven there are two rounds of honors college notifications. One was in December and then the second is in February.
Anyone know when acceptances are usually sent? Like around February like Clemson or March? I applied back on November 2nd and I was just wondering.
Mid March for RD
Last year some regular decision started hearing back this week- let’s see!
Does anyone know how early regular decisions could be coming out or for those students that were originally deferred back in December?. I thought it was mid March but could it be any earlier?
Pretty sure I read that last year early deferrals heard back around Presidents week. Not March.
