The top left logo was still there but there was a rectangular box that I think said University of South Carolina before disappeared for a period of time today but then it reappeared a few hours later. But then not long after that that banner (rectangle) turned into It’s a yes! and a note that there was a status update. I did not get an email saying there was an update until several hours later. I hope that helps! Good luck everyone!
My daughter applied regular admission in January OOS and got her acceptance today. 3.7 GPA/33 ACT, two varsity sports, lots of community service and activities.
@WassupBrina … No, not deferred. I applied December and just got my decision today. Received an email. Looks like everyone accepted who posted was a business major (including myself).
On my son’s portal, there’s a link below his December 13 decision (he was deferred). It says decision update posted February 6th. Once we click on that, it leads to a letter that says congratulations. I checked again a couple of hours later, and the portal updated to a big YES at the top of the page.
OOS from Georgia accepted with in state tuition through merit scholarship.
Pre-International Business
Weighted GPA: 3.67

Class Rank: 217/636

Only extracurricular was 3 years of the DECA program. No references or community service hours. I had a very strong personal essay.
I got an email from the Financial Aid office about a VIP ID. Did anyone else get this? Also, what does this mean? I have yet to receive a decision from UofSC. Kinda confused here.
We got it too…umm
i got it too!
Got the email too. If they do send this to students who won’t be accepted, they should really rethink that.
giving a lot of false hope
I got the email too. I proceeded with creating my account, we will see what happens. It let me get as far as viewing financial aid, but nothing is there obviously. I got deffered in the early applicants pool.
According to the South Carolina website “Your VIP ID is an eight-digit number that is assigned to you when you are admitted to the university. It is used to log in to Self Service Carolina.”
The link above shows where it states that information…
“Your VIP ID is an eight-digit number that is assigned to you when you are admitted to the university. It is used to log in to Self Service Carolina. Your VIP ID is included on your acceptance letter, given to you if you have applied for financial aid, and available in myaccount.sc.edu.”
I was accepted EA and also received the email. It is not an indication of admission status.
So do you think they would issue a VIP ID to a student who wasn’t accepted? Not to read into anything but it just seems odd for the school to do that.
@JordanWykee , I did the same thing as you bc I was hoping to find clues. It basically has a whole portal set up as if the student is enrolled and looks on par with schools where my son has been accepted and is awaiting financial aid packages.
No, I do not think so, not 100 percent sure though. I asked one of my friends who were deferred she said she did not receive an email from South Carolina regarding her VIP ID information. I do not want to get my hopes up but we will see.
The portal does look like if the student is enrolled and it shows the correct campus that I applied for: Columbia.
Hopefully it is not a glitch!
I set up my D’s and it says “ service denied due to missing privileges” when I try and log back in.
Anyone else get that?
@OceanIsle
In the email it talks about financial aid (FAFSA). Im concerned that they sent this to students/applicants who applied for FAFSA and included South Carolina on there FAFSA application
As a follow up, I can see the account screen which lists all the options to the left:

Where exactly on the webpage did it state that? @Lacole03
