@“mom.3.x” i know its awful. Luckily we visited 2X one of them being the Feb ASD. If there are any questions i could answer for you let me know I am certainly not an expert but feel i aam knowledgeable about the basics. There are quite a few videos on you tube to look at the campus and dorms. What is her major? Im pretty sure my son will be going hasnt put down the deposit yet and I dont want to bring up the subject right now as he is all upset about whats going on and what he is missing out on. We are OOS as well with a scholarship and thats hard to pass up
My son scheduled a phone call with one of the academic leaders for the Computer Information Systems department today to learn more about that major etc. it was well worth it as they went over classes, internships, and answered questions about the school.
We lost out on next weekend admitted students day as well, but this at least was informative and they were glad to talk to us.
@jgwolf I have actually visited the campus before with my older son when he was looking at schools. I do think she’d love it. Her major is Supply Chain Management and she has also been invited to the CapStone Scholars. She is waiting for one more deferred decision (she won’t get any money from this school if she gets in), and has ruled out Clemson who offered her the summer start. She also has an acceptance from Penn State but seems intent on going South. I really hope we can get down because I think this would be a really good fit for her. Good luck to your son!
Looks like your daughter will not get to visit the school. Just about all SC universities have chosen to move to online courses for the remainder of the school year and graduation plans for this May have been postponed. My son was scheduled to visit on March 28, but it has been cancelled.
Hope everyone is staying safe during this very stressful time. I am just hoping that the Orientation dates starting in June will still happen. A it is, our kids may not have their proms or be able to have a graduation. Praying that we all get through this sooner than later.
Does anyone know if the school is still planning on sending out/ notifying financial aid decisions by April 1? Daughter didn’t get merit aid - but we have no other numbers to work off of to make a final decision. All other schools sent us their financial aid packages with breakdown and final cost of attendance.
My son emailed them through his school email, and they said April 1st is the date that all financial aid information will be posted.
A friend of mine just got accepted off the waitlist today. OOS (MA). No idea on stats or major.
I just got off the waitlist!!! I’m SO happy!!! I will be attending!!
@user9167391 Yay! Congratulations- I know how long you’ve been waiting for the good news!! I’m so excited for you!!
My daughter just got accepted today from the waitlist too. (OOS-NJ) Portal now asks that you accept the offer first. Does anyone know if this is binding in some way? We would first like to see what, if anything, SC might be giving financially and what the final cost would be. This process has been so frustrating. SC was her #1 choice but SC web site showed low chances for getting accepted off of the waitlist coupled it with SC claiming you wouldn’t know until May! Daughter just comitted to U of Arizona last week (She has not visited either campus because due to Cornavirus) I’m not sure where we will go from here…
I filled it out and you don’t put in any credit card information and it never said it was binding. I don’t think its binding until a deposit is put down.
I just asked this another thread but was wondering the same thing especially since they are asking to make a decision by April 15, not May 1.
I believe it is April 15th rather than May 1st for a couple reasons. After you submit the form it takes up to 5 business days for you to be able to get the actual acceptance letter on the portal. So if they asked by May 1st then it would definitely push them behind in getting deposits and final enrollment numbers together. Also the housing contract is due May 10th so it would be cutting it close to then. However, no deposit has to be down until May 1st. I’m also not sure if they accepted the whole waitlist or not. If they didn’t then they may be able to pull off more after April 15th.
Well that does make sense. So in order to see if they offer any merit aid or scholarships, we will have to submit the form, but nothing is binding until we make a deposit until May 1, is that assumption correct?
I’m assuming it’s not binding but you may want to call the admissions office to ask just to be sure. I’m sure they can answer any questions you may have!
@NJOOSNOSIDAM we are kinda in the same boat. OOS NY. Sport Mangagent. UofSC was a top choice for a very long time (we did get to visit). My daughter applied early got deferred. Then waitlisted.
She applied to Syracuse (which I think has as good a program) and even though her stats made Syracuse a bit of a reach. She got in w $10k merit. We put down a$995 deposit. (Note Syracuse w $10k merit is still at least $10k more than UofSC w no money).
Now S.C. offering admission off the waitlist. My wife wants her stay w Syracuse (since it drivable). But daughter is very conflicted.
Gonna be a tough couple weeks to come to a decision.
My son just got off the waitlist too, but no mention of major or financial aid-have to submit that you accept by 4/15 and only then you will receive the acceptance letter. So strange. How can that be binding with that lack of information and no money down? Leaves us a little nervous submitting an acceptance in this manner. Reached out to admissions but have not heard back from them. Has any one else spoken to admissions about this?
I did an online chat with an admissions advisors yesterday. She basically told me that the April 15th date is non binding and no deposit is due, as some have said here, and nothing is until you put deposit down on May 1. She also said that financial aid awards will be going out the first week of April. Did not think receiving awards/aid were dependent on filling out the offer form.
Hope this info helps.
Hopefully everyone who was accepted off of the waitlist is still eligible for merit aid! My daughter was waitlisted at Clemson and they told her that if you are waitlisted at their university you are not eligible for merit aid or scholarships any longer. We took them right off the list!
