No idea. They are doing things so differently this year. Sounds like communication was via snail mail in the past, but they sent out that one wave via portal updates last month. Maybe that was a trial run to see if portal updates are going to work. If they didn’t have any issues, maybe they’ll update everyone’s portal at the same time. I did notice UofSC posted Cocky pulling a chair up to a mailbox to wait for Early Action decisions earlier this week. Could that mean they are going back to snail mail?
I talked to one of the reps two days ago and she said that we will get a notification via email to check the portal, and if a student is admitted then they will receive a uofsc YES packet in the mail.
Portal updates for almost all of the schools that don’t do a ‘rolling admit’ are usually on a Friday at 5 pm for the time zone of the school. So, if we don’t hear anything this Friday, I would bet it will roll to Friday, Dec. 13th. The do at the end of the day on a Friday b/c they don’t want their phones ringing off the wall all day b/c someone didn’t get in and wants to talk about it.
The portal says Dec 9th - 13th so since that’s Monday- Friday of next week, I wonder if they will notify each day? Otherwise I would imagine they would have just said Friday the 13th?
I’ll explain what that means: Everyone will hear on the 9th, and I will hear on Dec 13th at 11:59 pm.
I bet its next week at the earliest - while they did post Cocky going to the mailbox to wait if you read down to their Dec 1st post there is a question from a parent then an answer from USC Undergrad Admissions saying “University of South Carolina Undergraduate Admissions Hi! EA decisions will come out in a couple of weeks, and Honors College decisions will be released in February.”
That was posted by them on Dec 1st.
We here were really hoping for this week!!!
First round of honors college determinations end of December - everyone will know mid February.
Anyway I think it has been hard for my son as he applied only to one school with real rolling admissions - and was accepted (yay) but all the rest including USC appear to be more or less following their stated notification times… (He is OOS for USC). Meanwhile all his friends keep getting in places and I think it’s been a bit discouraging. At least emotionally.

A rep said that everyone that applied EA is promised a decision by the 13th. Not sure if they will start earlier than the 9th. Does anyone know from past experience if they ever release OOS before the EA decision week?
@ry13456 Looking back at previous years’ posts here on CC, OOS applicants usually start receiving acceptance packets in the mail in early-mid November. UofSC is obviously doing things very differently this year.
Does anyone think there is a chance OOS will hear on Friday? It is looking less and less likely

I’ve been waiting to hear back from them for so long.
My son’s admissions counselor said they will start 12/9 and go on until 12/13 for EA.

It’s driving me crazy b/c I can already tell that I will be the last person notified at 11:59 pm on 12/13. At that point, I will probably get Deferred to the spring just for maximum torture purposes, then I’ll probably be wait-listed.
@SlimJim001 I can only imagine what it’s like being in the students seat (as opposed to me as a parent…). I’m sure you’ve heard it but things were not nearly so stressful for my generation, or so it seemed.
