Class of 2024 Early Action Thread

@hii1122
We asked during our second child’s visits about when they start reading and making decisions. They said “by middle sept we read and start making decisions”.

This year is unique because school breaks on Friday - usually they break on thursday. So it’s anyone’s guess if it is the day before = thursday or keep tradition = wednesday.

@sushiritto
First time I am seeing enrollment connect. We had WA 2 years back when we knew the signs with buttons disappearing. What are the tea leaves these days with enrollment connect. Is this the first or second year for EC.

Looks like 2 reviews and 3rd if necessary:

I believe it’s the 1st year for Enrollment Connect, because it was never mentioned at all last year. I’ve asked students and parents here to report any unique or strange EC idiosyncrasies for future reference.

With Enrollment Connect, I suppose a new tradition or day can be established to release decisions. Who knows. But I’d bet Wednesday, but then, I lose more bets than win them.

or maybe it just crashes when 40,000 students and some 15,000 parents try to log in at 3pm :slight_smile: Good old WA was reliable.

Does anyone have a heading on the left of the page that says “RESOLVE”

Was that always there? It looks new.

@daphneheslop that’s always been there

Thanks. I am overthinking this - 3 more days.

It is most likely that they will release them between this Wednesday and Friday. However, becuase classes end on Thursday, there is a chance that they could be released a day earlier…meaning this Tuesday, however that is not that likely according to the previous data. And in regards to some previous posts, yes UMich probably does do yield protect. Because UMich is in the top 30 universities, many kids use public schools and others on par with UMich as back-up becuase so many of the kids that apply to UMich are also applying to top-tier schools, some even ivys.

Triple legacy, but my parents are not huge donors.

My sister just got home today (she is a senior at UMich) and she heard back on a Friday. She said that they may release them a day earlier because classes officially end on this Thursday, but she said that they usually stick with Wednesday and later.

@daphneheslop thats great you mentioned it. You never know when we find something unique. ?

@sushiritto - there are many clues you can get. Years ago an Ivy league asked my brother if they could follow him on Instagram. He had gotten in.

I should add that the Ivy League asked if they could follow him in early February. He did not officially hear about his decision until late March/early April.

For what its worth- my moms “facebbook” friend is friends with an admissions person who said Thursday and that there were lots of deferrals due to high volume. I’m prepared for deferral at this point. Just trying to be realistic.

@Mimigirl what are your stats?

@cadavisj10 I have a 31 (32 superstore) act and a 3.8 unweighted. OOS. I’m a double legacy and have some great EC (started my own mental health organization and have won a grant and a national award) so I’m hoping the extra stuff helps as my stats are on the low end for Michigan. But I just hear about so many outstanding candidates being deferred I’m just feeling very meh about it. You?

i am the president of two clubs (Best Buddies and our diversity organization) and I created a sexual assault/harassment education program through my school. I feel like they will defer a lot this time because soooo many people applied this year. I hope I get in, but it is not the end of the world to me

Hi guys! Chance me please. Michigan is my dream school and is the only place I want to go. I am ranked 38/1250 students in my class, which puts me in the top 3%. I have a 1410 SAT (740 M/670 R) and my GPA is a 3.89. I have 4 generations of legacy and my brother just got accepted into Aerospace Engineering grad school there. I started my own club that helps find jobs for adults with autism, I am in 4 National Honors Societies, and have several officer positions in other clubs. I have also had several internships and I applied LSA and I am OOS. Please let me know what you think of my chances as I am dying to attend the University of Michigan

I am curious what the size of LSA class is verses Engineering. Son applied COE and are awaiting the news. Wondering the number of applicants EA to each of these schools, number admitted in Dec and deferred and ultimately accepted.
In state, National engineering awards with Science Olympiad is the same as others who have done Robotics, Math Olympiad etc . I was told that everyone has their “thing” that they won a state or national medal/award. It’s crazy. So much competition!
Over 145 hours in volunteering, 3 sports, 1420 and 33. International engineering internships (in that language). But will most likely be deferred. If so, OUCH!

@KSB2019 you can find stats (number of applicants, accepted) for some of the colleges on their websites or by Google

hi guys

Forgive me, but I’m quoting myself from page 1:

Adding that the enrolled Class of 2023 was 6,830.
