mine too
Possibly the dawn of the final day!
Iām getting same message as before
same. will the portal change again? what time (if today) do u think theyāll come out??
It may be beneficial financially but U of M is built out of the State of Michigan Charter and has to serve the students of the state first - itās almost at a 50-50 (In-state / OOS) ratio now. A few years ago it tipped slightly in favor of OOS and I think it was a big no-no. It was a tiny fraction of a percentage over I think? Tell me if I am wrong.
We are local and and it feels like they only take so many from the city, although maybe a higher percentage than most high schools. Itās super competitive to get in, and engineering has less spots available and less spots accepted for EA.
So we expect deferment today. But still excited to pass this milestone, and excited for all of you!
We have same mesaage as before.
Also, I was thinking that by not announcing the decision date prior, it leaves those with IVY ED acceptances to make a.xecision on how long to wait. If they are willing to gamble how long it will take UM and how long they are willing to wait to give their withdrawal per the ED rules. Smart on UM part so that more IVY ED will withdraw without know when UM will release.
Sk8ter, thatās a fact: āof the 65,684 applications, 12,521 were submitted by in-state students with 5,141 being offered admissions for an acceptance rate of 41.1 percent. From among the 44,014 applications submitted by students living in states other than Michigan and the 9,149 applicants living in other countries, 10,327 were offered admission for an out-of-state acceptance rate of 19.4 percent.ā
Iām just curious as to why so many people think that decisions will come out tomorrow rather than today? Decisions have come out the third Wednesday in December for the last 3 years. Before that, they were released on the third Friday. EA decisions have never come out on Thursdays, or at least not in the last 10 years. Since there seems to be a general consensus that they wonāt come out on Friday due to Christmas break, it seems very very likely that decisions will be out today. Hopefully our waiting will end today at 3pm est. good luck everyone!!!
juding by years past, youāll hear sometime after 3pm EST on the day they come out
517-Because th University of Michigan is a state school and gets funding from the state of Michigan. Residents are supporting the school. All state schools are the same way. I'm sure other could explain it better.
When I went to UMich in the early 90s, it was said that state funding required the university to have at least 69% in-state students. The university and the state have now cut that to just over 50%. Thatās actually a lot for a state school. Ohio State and U of Wisconsin still save around 70% of a class for their own stateās students.
However, as state funding reduces as a percentage of the budget every year, adding more OOS students certainly helps!
Woot woot I am very nervous going into today :ā)
Super nervous, and anticipating an extended wait time (as in deferment). The thought of waiting another few months is overwhelming.
I wish you all the best@! I canāt wait to hear back from all of you to find out your results!
Looks like itās going to be right after 3:00pm today, as noted by several others in this thread⦠What are the decisions options for EA? Accepted, Rejected, or Deferred? correct?
I would like to note that it is possible that some people will get their decisions today and some will get it tomorrow. My sister (applies in 2017) said many kids in her school heard Wednesday but she didnāt get her decision until Thursday.
