Ha, I know right! D19 is a freshman at Ohio State. D20 is seriously interested in UMich. She’s applying to a dual degree program in LSA + SMTD. We’re from MA, so weren’t really even aware of the rivalry before D19 chose OSU. D19 is not thrilled that her sister is applying to UMich.
@momzilla2D - Wow! Well, it will be a family divided, but all of that makes a lot of sense! SMTD is a great program and I can understand not knowing if you are from MA. Has your D20 also applied to OSU, or are the programs not as good of a fit for her?
We did not receive it. My son is applying to both LSA and art school as dual major candidate for EA.
@jayrow Yes, D20 did apply to OSU, and has already been accepted. She’s just really interested in UMich’s SMTD program. It is the only school where she’s going that route. Everywhere else, she’s applying straight math major. UMich is a tough admit, though, especially adding in the audition component.
Yes I am instate and live in a small community with about 8,000 people. I am also middle eastern, first generation.
When do we think notifications will come out? I know someone had looked at past years to figure it out but now that we’re close I’m not sure. Did they say Wednesday 12/18?
Based on years passed 12/18 is a good guess. When my son applied, I seem to remember they tweeted something about releasing EA notices and it was posted on the website, then email came out a day later.
Is there a new portal for decisions vs. what was used 2 years ago?? My daughter logged in tonight and it was completely different than where my son logged in.
My daughter had her interview on Sunday (yesterday). Came home very happy, saying that she got an Engineer to talk to. She is the lucky one: all my previous kids (and all applied to Engineering or Math, to many different schools) were talking to the alumni from professions that were very very far from STEM, so they couldn’t discuss anything of essence, only the general stuff.
So, when is the decision coming out, any recent updates?
Does anyone know whether UM still uses Wolverine Access for prospective students? My daughter got a login to EnrollmentConnect which is a new dashboard for this year.
Other UM posts referring to a “decision tab” are related to Wolverine Access and the user interface there.
I’ll repost.
I’m hoping @SingingBusDriver (UMich admissions insider) will come back this year and provide us with some details you can’t get anywhere else.
The admissions portal says by December 24th. Is that not the decision date? I saw the “by”, but I didn’t think it meant anything.
If that’s not the date, then around when should we find out the actual date (like if it’s 12/18)?
December 24th is an “outside” or “no later than” date. I’ve posted the EA release dates for the last 8 years above in Post #130. Use that as your guide.
Sorry to go back to this - I am new to this thread and trying to catch up. . . . I just checked my son’s applicant portal (EA applicant for Class of 2024 Engineering) and do not see any “Decision” tab. Could I be looking in the wrong place? It seems a bit early for them to be preparing to post given 12/24 latest notification date, so can you please advise where this might be so I can be sure I am checking correctly? TIA-
It’s been a couple years since I’ve been in the applicant’s portal, so I’d ask if anyone else here has their decision tab showing (or not)?
The disappearing decision tab for many years has typically meant that a decision is imminent. There have been a few instances of applicants stating that they never had a decision tab even though they submitted EA.
The only other reason to not have a decision tab is due to the applicant being RD, not EA.
And it’s always possible that UMich “fixed” this “issue” this admissions cycle.
@sushiritto I think the portal is completely different this year. Seems like they’ve migrated to a new system.
@momzilla2D Would you be able to answer the question of @SuburbanMom18 then? Assuming you have access to the new portal, Enrollment Connect, do you know if your kid has a decision tab at the moment? I’m curious as well.
To pay tuition, I still use Wolverine Access. But it sounds like UMich did away with the decision tab by migrating to Enrollment Connect.
@sushiritto My portal on Enrollment Connect never had a decision tab. There is one that says “application status” though, if that’s helpful.
Just an FYI from Michigan’s research twitter account:
https://ncsesdata.nsf.gov/herd/2018/html/herd18-dt-tab036.html
@senkeene there is usually a tweet or Facebook post from Michigan announcing that decisions are about to be released. They don’t give a lot of lead time, though, so use @sushiritto’s dates to prepare and assume a Wednesday or Friday release.
