Accepted to nursing:

-33 ACT

-extracurriculars: internship w dental surgeon, violin, 3 honor societies, job experience, clubs in school, etc.
I think my essays were the main reason I got in

Hey guys I was recently accepted into LSA school,
Out of state (had an x)
34 ACT
4.0 GPA uw
Varsity baseball captain (state championship team)
Student council president
National French Honor Society President
I applied for preferred admission to the Ross School of business, does anyone know the amount of kids who get accepted to the school who want to go to Ross? And what % of those students actually get accepted?

The only info that I have is that the amount of enrolled Ross students for the Class of 2022 was 447.

The entire Class of 2023 (all UMich schools) grew by about 135-ish students, but we don’t know how many may have been added to that 447 number, not many, if any, I assume.

Total UMich yield is about 46%, but I’d bet that Ross yield is much higher than that.

Decision: Deferred

SAT: 1550
ACT: 35 (36 Superscored)
GPA: 5.0/5.3, 18 AP classes
Applied to Ross
EC’s: Eagle Scout, Treasurer Investment Club, Vice President of small business (through program), Trumpet Jazz Band & Marching Band, DECA, Animal Shelter Volunteer, summer programs

Feeling pretty low. Others were accepted so I don’t know if there was any other reason why I didn’t get in except they didn’t like my app. Does anyone know anything? I am considering EDII but would like to see my decisions to Michigan and other colleges tho.

@tchit87 You shouldn’t take it personally. Michigan has long discovered that many applicants use it as a safety school. In order to protect its yield, it seems to defer top stat candidates to see whether they really will enroll at Michigan if admitted. Said another way, if you really want Michigan, you need to convince them it is really your top choice and not something you will take if you don’t get your top choice.

Do you guys know if you have a better chance in state or out of state? Also if your residence was flagged because of a mistake on their part do you think that would be reasonable cause for a diferral?

@Edisonian

Sorry about your deferral but that is actually something new, I think. They now have a system for continued interest. So don’t rush that out tonight. Spend a bit of time and really hone a great response to it.

Accepted! OOS LSA (Ross)
Anyone know when the folders come in the mail?

My brother was accepted, Engineering
OOS, ACT 35, 3.97 GPA, SAT2 - 800 math2, 800 Physics, 790 US History; 6 university level courses. 5s in APs BC Calc, Physics C - Mech , Physics C E&M, Chemistry, Stats, Economics; 4 in World and US History; USA PhO medallist (not sure which one); Published paper in Material science; Won many significant awards/fellowships in classical music

@Harryyardley You have a much better chance in-state. 50% of their students are in-state when there are kids from 50 states vying for spots at Michigan. I would think that almost all the top-performing kids in Michigan are accepted because it is still a HUGE state flagship.

Accepted LSA
In state
4.0 UW 4.111 W
1430 (1450 superscore)
7 APs
had ā€œXā€ lol (good theory btw)
many ECs, small community service, 2 varsity letters, 3 LOR

You guys have kept me busy these last couple days while also increased my anticipation. Dream school!! Finally can safely say go blue!

@Ezekiel2024

They changed how they display stats last year.

Generally 4000 accepted students have indicated Ross Preferred Admission. They make about 800 offers to yield a class of 500. They manage an active waitlist and are known to make last handful offers to students who have enrolled in the university to land a 500 start class. Of course, they can change process any year without notice.

@sushiritto @Knowsstuff
When i called my son at 11 to pick him up after finals, he said there is buzz on campus about releasing decisions today. My DD got accepted in COE.

@Paigemonaem

Hey all,

I got deferred by u of m early action today. I live near Ann Arbor. My stats were 1450 SAT and 3.976 unweighted GPA. (In-State and sibling attended) I had good ECs and well written essays. If I submit my continued letter of interest ASAP, what’s the earliest I might hear back? Are they waves?

Thanks!

Yay @saltypretzel congrats!
