Class of 2024 - University of Connecticut

@notts20 yes. There is something on the Uconn website or maybe even on the portal that mentions that the lower end of a scholarship is awarded to those that get the New England Tuition break. Which I don’t completely understand. Even with this break, tuition is still $9000 more than in-state. Many OOS students who get awards get to in-state tuition, but those of us who get New England tuition break and awards can never get to in-state tuition (the 5K award still leaves us 4K short.)

@tortiehannah Okay, thank you for the clarification.

@notts20 I would still contact school to make sure though. Good luck

UConn letter arriving in today’s mail for us in state (saw on informed delivery)

My daughter’s letter arrived yesterday(in state).

My son got accepted to SOB Storrs too, but I’m curious how you found out about the Merit money so soon. Did you get a packet already in the mail? Only thing I’ve seen is the screenshot my son received dated 2/28/2020. Sorry if I’m ignorant but I never went to college so all this stuff is so overwhelming.

What is the portal. How do parents check? My son is first gen applicant. Is the portal something that parents can access. All communications from UCONN have been directly to my son, the student.

@cheereeo Merit scholarships are included in the letter. Financial aid is in the portal, and only the student can access it (FERPA)

@cheereeo the only way you can access the portal is if your son gives you his log in information. Communications from all colleges are generally sent to the students and rarely do they even ask for the parents contact info. The merit money will be included in his offer letter. A financial aid link is also available through the portal and the student admin portal. UConn also sends communications via mail which should be arriving soon which I would imagine includes his offer letter and his merit money if anything

For those who already got their letter:

Is the letter in the mail the same as the letter in the portal acceptance?

My ds’s was. It was a medium sized envelope with the same letter from the portal, along with some flyers —1 pertaining to his specific program (Storrs Spring Admit) and another that I can’t remember right now. Oh—and a UConn/husky sticker.

@philippians What is “informed delivery”?

Sorry for all the questions. Does anyone know how many freshman get accepted to the School of Business Storrs? Couldn’t find anything on the SOB site. I think I read somewhere that there’s 800 total–but that may be across all campuses? I was very impressed with the Stamford SOB; DS was not into it. They have beautiful suites but no meal plan (as of this year).

You get an email every morning with a picture of your mail! It’s awesome!

@cheereeo
I think the Stamford campus residences are apartments not dorms which is why they have no meal plan. They have full kitchens so need to make food themselves.

Here is what I found https://uconn.edu/content/uploads/2019/01/INS-004-Fact-Sheet-NewDesign-011719-FY19.pdf

I do know students that attend the Stamford campus. The verdict is split. Some kids like others do not and have left to attend a different school.

Thanks, we got the letter in the mail today. She was accepted into the Honors Program with a nice grant for a CT resident.

My first time posting here. My daughter was accepted, her first choice!! So my questions are: her letter said accepted to the College of Agriculture Health and Natural Resources. She applied to the Allied Health major which is in that college. How do we know if she got the Allied Health major? Part 2 is she is out of state so this major would be for the Regional Tuition Program but nothing says this. Does it usually specify this? Thanks!

@snowmom on the portal it actually says my daughter’s major (which is also Allied Health!). When you look at the financial aid package online, the tuition and fees should be $26, 852 (or tuition only at $23,424 vs $14, 406 for instate) for the New England Regional Tuition Program (my daughter is also part of that program)…it’s about $9000 more than in-state. If on your financial aid package the tuition/fees is higher than this, then contact FA. Congrats to your daughter! It’s my daughter’s first choice too!

My acceptance package came yesterday OOS (PA)
