We were thinking about appealing too. How did you start the process?
@philippians not sure what his STATS are but the pool of students this year was very competitive. If you notice on their website they no longer even publish what you need for academic excellence. My DD did get AE, but friends with great STATS SAT & GPA just a little lower than her got nothing
There is a form on the acceptance portal for appeals. We just filled that out and are hoping for the best, but it says decision may not come until after May 1.
We are okay if we don’t get more, his heart is set on UConn so we can make it work! We are in state so it’s still less than WPI with their merit and financial aid
We are In state too. I have a feeling they will not be able to honor many appeals since manty kids who were thinking of OOS schools will not have the opportunity to visit due to the virus, will end up attending UCONN
We appealed as well, but not for FA. Chose “campus” as the reason and then DS wrote a letter explaining why he felt his stats merited starting his freshman year in Storrs instead of Hartford. Seriously, he’s starting with 13 UConn ECE credits with strong grades, and 9 AP credits. If kids with 0 credits can begin in Storrs, it’s illogical that he can’t.
Currently he’s enrolled, but if he doesn’t get Storrs housing, he will likely choose Umass. We love Umass, and he got a nice scholarship, but we would prefer Uconn for a variety of reasons, so we have all the fingers and toes crossed that between the early housing app and the appeal, he will be able to start on campus in August, even if some commuting to Hartford is involved for 1st semester.
I’d like my son to appeal also (for scholarship)…but who knows what will happen now…I’m worried about deposit dates and graduating on time …
just informed uconn i will not be attending, so hopefully somebody that was waitlisted can get my spot. good luck everybody!
Anyone else here waitlisted?
Is the Academic Excellent Scholarship for OOS students fixed at $23500 or can it be more or less?
@OOSParnet - I’m curious too. We are out of state and received $23,500.
I have not get any information from Ucon yet, anyone know when will they start to update status?
@Tiffany1006 are you talking about decisions? Those were release end of february
If they still haven’t uploaded your decision to your portal, contact admissions ASAP. @Tiffany1006 Decisions, merit, and financial aid (assuming your FAFSA was complete) was released on February 28.
honestly, after reading all these stats I’m surprised i even got accepted to uconn for biology with a $10,000 academic scholarship (OOS). i guess they really do take the whole picture into consideration, not just gpa.
My application status shows that it has been completed, and I haven’t received an email for admission or rejection, and I don’t know what happened.
@OOSParent @jdhMom FYI, we also got $23.5K OOS award.
Has anyone heard of the Acceptance Deadline being pushed back? I have heard from one other college so far in regards to this but nothing from UConn yet.
NO, Has Uconn updated your application status? I have been checking my portal daily. My portal still did not update my status.
My brother emailed admissions with his letter of continued interest (he was waitlisted), should we expect a response?
