Does anyone know if they send out merit scholarships earlier for early action applicants? I was accepted about two weeks ago and received my HUB login too.
same here, my son got accepted 2 weeks ago and nothing yet on merit scholarships. Still waiting…
Has anyone else heard back yet from UB. If they did, if you don’t mind Share Stats, and date of acceptance plz:).
Still waiting. My son’s stats are good but not superstar numbers. I anticipate another wave this Friday and next Friday. I’m grateful for last year’s prolific posters for giving me something to read while we wait! UBuffalo accepts a wide range of students. Good luck everyone!
(My very first post in CC Forum)

DS was accepted to UB. Is it true he has to apply to the Honors Program to be considered for merit scholarships? He submitted the SUNY app, not the Common App.
@nextstepcollege he does not have to be a part of the honors college to be eligible for merit scholarships. If you son is interested in the very competitive Presidential Scholarship (15k/yr), then he would have to be a part of the honors college because that is the only scholarship that requires a separate application (it is managed and offered by the Honors College).
Does anyone know when they begin sending out financial aid/scholarships? I received my acceptance almost 3 weeks ago.
For international students, they will announce scholarship decisions on the 6th of February if the candidate received their decision before the 1st of February. I don’t know what the case is for domestic students, though. You might want to contact them and find out.
Thank you! He wasn’t sure because I believe he read somewhere that if he did the common app, he’d already be considered for merit scholarships but since he used the SUNY app, there was a separate application? How would he apply for the other merit scholarships if he chooses not to apply for the Honors Program?
Oh wow I am really nervous about not hearing back yet. I have a 1200 SAT Score and a 3.5 with some EXtra Curriculars. I am also out of state and this is my dream school. I applied on the 26th, I belive. I also finished the bio med pathway, took Ap Bio, and currently in Ap chem and another Ap class. At this point I am seriously loosing hope:(
@IceHockey2020 Don’t lose hope! Your stats are very solid!
@IceHockey2020 Your stats are good. Just wait a couple of weeks more. I’m confident you’ll hear some good news. It’s easy to get discouraged with all the super high stats people post, but the truth is that applicants in your range get in too!
@nextstepcollege on their scholarship info page, UB states that no separate application for the pride of New York, Provost, and Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarships (the main scholarships) is required. He does not have to be a part of the honors college for these. Even though he submitted the SUNY application, they still have the same info on him as they have for the Common App applicants, so he should be all good! If you want to be 110% sure you can always email your admissions counselor!
Acceptance package came today! Accepted 11/15, dated 11/27, located in Dutchess County.
Thank you! Not sure what stats he needs for merit. He has a 1420 SAT and 32 ACT. He has a 95 unweighted GPA. He took AP and Honors courses, so hopefully he will qualify for something.
D20 got her acceptance package today. No word yet on fin aid or merit. But she was excited to see it in writing! ACT33, GPA UW 3.97, lots of ECs, some leadership but not much.
