Good luck to everyone waiting!
that is not allowed. it says in the enrollment contract that you will not make admissions deposits at multiple schools at the same time. if the schools know, they can rescind admission.
I have confirmation that the admissions officers at one large state school know that many students have placed deposits at multiple schools. The one deposit contract I read did not expressly prohibit the placing of a deposit at another institution.
Multiple deposits at different schools this late in the game seems odd, unless those schools seriously havenāt released all their merit/aid yet, but you have to think that there are many students that have committed to one school and are on the waitlist at another and could potentially flip, especially with all the delays this yearā¦
Typically thereās movement through the end of June, but this year could go into July more than normalā¦
Can I ask, are you Northern VA (Arlington, Alexandria, or Fairfax Counties) or outside NOVA? If kids from your high school are getting off the waitlist and theyāre in Northern Virginia, you may have just reignited our hope! (son is happy with his final choice, but I know he still checks his email 20 times a day still hoping for that waitlist notification from Tech)
Fairfax county
Thatās heartening news. Glad to hear Northern VA kids are getting off the waitlist. Hereās to holding out hope for our own kids!
Anyone can explain what is the disadvantage for the NOVA kids?
Thereās just so many of them (NOVA kids). If a VA college is looking for geographic diversity within the state, thereās simply more NOVA bodies looking to fill the same number of slots. So if they are letting in NOVA kids off the waitlist, the hope is that the school is opening some of those allocated to NOVA spots.
Nova is just so dense so everything becomes more competitive based simply on the volume of kids applying to all the same schools.
So far we have a report from Speer that two students were admitted from the waitlist at a high school in Fairfax. I am also in NOVA and know parents at several schools whose kids are on the VT waitlist. Not one of us has first-hand knowledge of anyone coming off the VT waitlist. Iām sure Speerās info is accurate, but I would caution against thinking that any significant number of kids in NOVA or anywhere else have been admitted off the waitlist.
If you are interested in stats/data, SCHEV posts a lot of information including acceptance by student locality. B08A1: Admissions by Student Level and Student Locality
This is true. Iāve only heard it two females from our high school and a small number of international students offered from WL.
My son received an e-mail that VT no longer is working with the waiting list. I donāt have access to the e-mail since he is on vacation with other family members. I donāt know if anyone else was selected.
15 minutes ago my son received a notice that he had an application status update. Thrilled, he opened it only to be disappointed, again. The letter read, āAs a result of a very strong response to our offers of admission to date, we will not be making any additional offers.ā
So it sounds like the waitlist is officially closed. Not sure if this is a blanket email for all, or maybe just the School of Business, but either way, itās the end of the waiting for us. Good luck to all your kids, great things are waiting for them wherever they land.
We got the same letter.
My son got the same today
