Class of 28 Undergrad/Class of 26 Grad: a thread to capture the journey of applications, pre screens, tours and auditions

I wasn’t necessarily expecting lunch, but I was expecting to have more meal options available. This was my first audition experience and I knew we would be on campus for most of the day based on our particular schedule. Most other college tours with my older sons, we were able to eat at the dining halls when we wanted. When I took son #2 on an extended campus tour at the college he was accepted to, lunch was provided. I guess in my mind, I had similar expectations. Though these students weren’t “accepted,” they were selected and invited.

As a comparison, CIM did provide lunch. However, in defense of Jacobs, there were significantly fewer students and guests. And to be clear, I wasn’t expecting a FREE lunch, just more options. But, it all worked out in the end. Maybe we just had a unique set of circumstances that made this a bigger deal for us. It definitely didn’t ruin the experience, and we didn’t starve. It just made our day more inconvenient.

My daughter made it through Friday’s audition but came down sick on Sunday–ugh. Has another audition/competition this coming weekend. Doing all the immune boosting stuff. If she can get that one in, she is done–except for ISSMA, school musical, internship, dance team, all the senior stuff… oh, and that thing she fits in somewhere–school-haha.

In my daughter’s department meeting for her audition, we were told that the practice building is next up for renovation. Sometime in the next year or two. Yay! Needs it.

Anyone know anything about NYU Jazz? We visited yesterday just to play with the band and talk to people. Some of the people told us that doing a double major is very rare. They knew of a couple of people doing minors. My daughter is interested in stem and other schools Have been very supportive and even proud of the double or dual opportunities. Does anyone have any knowledge about NYU which she otherwise likes?

hi! congrats! my son’s portal has only shown his acceptance into Indiana (which he received back in December) as “pre-music”
where on the portal did it show the updated jacobs decision? just trying to figure out what we’re looking for!

Thanks! Sorry for the confusion, we were at Jacobs but the acceptance he received was for CCM. No change to his Jacobs portal yet either. Hopefully they will both hear something soon!

That’s so exciting! Hopefully I would still be around when they finish renovating the rooms (since I would only be there two years as a master’s student).

Does anyone know where, in the forum, we can find a list of approximate dates (preferably for last year) that SOMs started to notify students of acceptance? I know I’ve stumbled upon this before and now I can’t find it.

Is this the one you mean?

Is there an acceptance thread for class of 2028/2026?

I figured someone would create one as we get closer to the end of audition season. Anyone can do the honors!

I would offer to start a thread for admittances and merit scholarships, but I know I won’t keep up with it well!

I liked how all the faculty came and hung out with parents and students for so long. My daughters professor was
On sabbatical, but came in to meet his potential students. They are a great group and so warm and welcoming.
