Congrats to all who got in. @646012, I’m sorry your D didn’t get into Clemson. My son also got into PSU & USC. I have no issue with Clemson’s process. I actually like that it comes in the mail. I don’t like the hack, but that’s probably because it didn’t work for us, lol. CU is top of his list. To quote Tom Petty, “the waiting is the hardest part.”
Nursing major offered Bridge. Anyone know of any Bridge students who’ve been successful in entering the Nursing program in Sophomore year? Weighing Nursing direct entry offers elsewhere against risk of Bridging.
@h89b30 I would choose direct entry over Bridge
Also wondering potential appeal success for this Major. Stats appear to be just on the cusp of acceptance (4.33 GPA, 1320 SAT) but thinking there are no spots available to win an appeal for.
@h89b30 a girl at my school last year (OOS) won her appeal!
@kgracy17 was it for Nursing?
I’m really not sure. Nursing is a closed major so probably not. I’m sure you could appeal for a different science major though
Received acceptance envelope in MA Wednesday
@NAL112576 & Luvslabs - I am also in NJ and waiting for today’s mail. What major did your child apply for? Wondering if that has anything to do with the difference in timing. LuvLabs - Where in NJ (Southern
has anyone heard back with a communication major?
@TheMetz he applied undeclared. There is an unscanned image in our mail for delivery today so hoping thats it! When I called admissions yesterday they told me they are aware that there have been mail delivery issues in NJ, PA & MA. So fingers crossed it arrives today!
@TheMetz Yes. In past years we have witnessed the letters sometimes being mailed in batches according to college and or major. In addition, they were still mailing envelopes through the week. Clemson says notifications will be mailed the week of February 15 and I think I saw yesterday that the last of the acceptance letters were mailed. Hang tight!
Yes …1310 OOS NY was wait listed today- Communications - by June 1st she will know- Will place deposit with one of 5 schools - USC, UDEL ,Penn State, Maryland or Miami U once we visit student acceptance days and see what happens though all these other schools provide many more options should she decide to switch majors
Yahoo!!! The package finally arrived today in Northern NJ!!! Here are my son’s stats - which I will also post on the accepted thread.
OOS - NJ
Major: Business with possible minor in History
Local High School is competitive (ranked in top 15% in the state)
Weighted ranked gpa: 89 (they don’t use a 4.0 scale so I am not sure what this translate into a 4.0 gpa scale)
SAT: 1280
Rank: Doesn’t rank - only give decile - he is in decile 5 (or top 50%)
AP/Honor Classes: 6 honors and 3 AP (all AP and 2 of the 6 honors were history classes - he also took a history class which was not offered in honors or AP). He score 5 on last year’s history AP exam and schedule to take 2 AP exams in May.
Extra Activities: Local Historic Society - doing marketing activities (i.e. created logo, organizing and participating in events, etc). Basketball 1 year and some ad hoc community service activities here and there - nothing consistent
Given the stats of others on this board, Clemson did take some other factors into account than just overall academic gpa and rank into account when reviewing my son’s application. What those factors are - we will never know.
Got accepted OOS business 35 ACT 3.7 gpa. Didn’t get any scholarship money though, which makes absolutely know sense as my brother with exact same stats got 20,000 per year. Hmmmmmm.
My son was waitlisted. Anyone have any information on those waitlisted being offered acceptance; Business Major.
@clearvision64 - My son has similar stats and we also did not get any scholarship money. I don’t know if it is because our HS does not rank.
Wow almost the same as my son. Also accepted to Rutgers business school. Best of luck to your son!
No package or letter in today’s mail in Tennessee. The site or “hack” where you can type your CU ID number in shows that my son was admitted to the College of Business, major economics, but nothing in the mail as of today. Has anybody by chance gotten positive news on that site but then received a denial or waitlist letter? Very hopeful that information is accurate and reliable.
@TheMetz Congratulations!!! Very similar stats to my son. Hoping for a package in today’s mail. On pins and needles.
