Clemson Admissions - Class of 2023 DISCUSSION

@sageorge still no packet in Fort Mill 29715 and Saturday mail has arrived. Hack worked and said he’s in, but where is the packet? Getting anxious and scared. Now we wait until Tuesday because Monday is a holiday :frowning:

@SweetFreedom hang in there! We are Fort Mill 29708 and it seems all the kids in our zip got them Friday. Hack worked for us also, but mail took forever!! Crossing my fingers yours finally arrive Tuesday!

@sageorge That does make me feel a little better. Still seems odd that states thousands of miles away got them before us, but it is what it is! Go Tigers and congrats to your Tiger!

Well @camcam2022 the hack is unrealiable because it’s not an approved way of finding out if you’re student is admitted. There is a process in place for a reason. Clemson has always notified by snail mail. I don’t believe that it needs to be revisited at all. I think people need to be patient rather than trying backdoor ways to determine admission . I know this is not a popular opinion, but it’s mine.

@TheMetz W. Orange, Mech. Engineering - No Merit Aid. (1500 SAT, 34 ACT, 3.78 uwgpa, school doesn’t rank, NMSC Finalist, Football & Lax Varsity Captain, Theater, Gold Presidential Service Award 2 years.)

@Pumpkinlily are you out of state? We are from Ohio. Daughter and I flying down tonight to visit Clemson, South Carolina and Alabama. We are meeting with an admissions officer from Clemson early Monday am to get more info about summer. If you wish we will share any further information we get.

Tigertown Packet arrived this morning (so I assume acceptances are still coming around past 2/15) Accepted OOS (Maryland) into Bioengineering. 1360 SAT, no class ranking at my school, 3.7ish UW GPA (school doesn’t do GPA either). Some advanced classes I have taken include: Biomedical Research, Intro to Neuroscience, Physics with Calculus (AP equivalent), two different engineering classes, and Linear Algebra. I co-lead Model UN, am Project Manager of my school’s FRC robotics team, tutor math, am an ambassador to my school, and am in a two-summer Johns Hopkins University Biochemistry internship. Additionally, I don’t know if it helped at all, but the representative who visited my school said we can send essays via email to attach to our applications. I sent in my Common App Essay (since no prompt was designated) and the representative responded a very kind reflection to what she thought of my essay. Congrats to all and good luck to those still waiting on letters!

@hicksychicks yes, please share! I am out of state and was planning on going at the end of the month, so any info that you can share with me would be extremely helpful. Thank you. I will private message you my mom’s info if that’s ok. I appreciate your help!

@mommartha
My sons school doesn’t rank. He was accepted back on November 1st to biochem and received $12,500 in merit scholarship money. We visited for 1st time last week, but don’t believe he will pick Clemson since they have don’t have a lot of research opportunities for pre-med.

Denied. 32 ACT, 3.7 weighted. OOS. Applied sports communications… bummed

@RMSqueencat - the post I saw about the wait list was on this thread. The post was from IMSTACY on feb 9th @ 11:09am. Maybe IMSTACY could provide more detailed information??? I will say though - my son is not 100% onboard. Although he is waiting for a response from VT, unless VT offers a material scholarship, I do not see him changing his mind.

Ultimately it is not where you go - its where you do after you graduate that determines your success. Wishing you the best.

Acceptance packet finally showed up in NJ today. 1230 SAT 3.45/3.7. Undeclared. Clemson Legacy

@Luvslabs - very very impressive GPA, ACT and SAT scores!!! Engineering is a very competitive major indeed and you and your family have much to be proud of.

On a personal note, I live in Pompton Plains (it’s next to Wayne) and my best friend loves labs too! Over the past 20 years my Bernese Mountain Dogs and her labs have played and had many swims together (I swear the lab tails are a rutter.) We are going to the April 5th Tiger Event. If you are going perhaps we could try to meet up in person? I’ll give my spam email address here for now and if we can meet up we can exchange our actual email addresses. My spam email is dldmetzjunk@gmail.com :)) Got to love the spam address - it clearly states what it is!

@carolinamom2boys I agree the hack is not reliable because if never worked for us but son was accepted and letter received 2/16. Only one day late but with modern technology we should be notified via email or a portal like most schools. ??‍♀️

@camcam2022 I think most is an overstatement. In terms of technology, there have been technology errors that have caused much distress in students. Several years ago, Tulane mistakenly sent acceptance emails to everyone who applied ED. They recognized their mistake fairly quickly, but the damage was done. Many students were devastated , some even pulled their other applications . Carnegie Mellon and UCSD are two other examples of computer errors .

Finally received acceptance packet 2/16 in mail after 2/5 hack changed. OOS Illinois accepted Engineering… will post stats on other page. Good Luck to all!

@TheMetz Thanks for that info. I found the posts by @imstacey. They were helpful indeed. My DS will do what he needs to to demonstrate his interest through emails & calls. We’ve already visited, as he had an interview at Brooks Perf Arts. We are hopeful, but not overly optimistic as the Audio Technology program take very few freshman ( I think only 7 or 8!) He might have a better chance in the Comp Sci program, but that is also very competitive. We are going to visit USC next month as an admitted student, so if we can manage it, we’ll try to get in another visit at Clemson (2 hours away.)

My son had a great attitude when he opened the envelope saying, “hey, it’s not a rejection!” Then he immediately accepted the waitlist spot.

@RMSqueencat thank you for sharing about your son’s attitude. Good for him! That is a great way to look at things. Every time these kids to to college obviously they’re going to get one of several replies and they should be prepared for any of them. Of course, rejections are harder to take but that’s also such a wonderful life building skill that they grow from (and usually see the better path on the other side). It’s so important as parents to frame it well for them and help them understand their identity is not where they go to school, but what they do with the privilege of college once they get there.

@camcam2022 , the Clemson website does state it will be the week of February 15, not on Feb 15. And since it is regular mail, everybody can understand that there is some flex time in there. I think it’s part of the charm and Clemson tradition. Just because technology is there, does not mean it’s the best way to do something.

I keep seeing “unable to determine acceptance status” when trying to register through onboarding, is that what people mean by the ‘hack is not working’? If so it sounds like he could still get an acceptance? I do know that admissions reached out to my son on Monday because his transcript never made it into coalition app so I expected to hear a bit later than everyone else. Do we still have hope?? Anxiously awaiting to hear up here in snowy Maine

@rightyb - sure you still have a chance as the application has not been reviewed yet because they still need the application. Good luck!
