Clemson Class of 2028 Official Thread

The free shuttles are awesome! We were looking at the hour drive from the airport. Can students have their cars on campus? Just curious. I know some colleges have more parking and some (like FSU) is really difficult.

I think maybe they were referring to bars specifically popular with Clemson students is my guess. Or maybe they just can’t count. LOL. I should note that the Boys of 98 actually party with and hang out with the students for almost a week, so a lot of the information they gather is from the students themselves.

Has anyone here recently gotten off the Clemson waitlist?

I havent heard of anyone getting off yet, but with the amount of people disappointed in their merit it wouldnt surprise me if we start seeing some come off.

Disappointed for those who don’t get the merit they expected. I think a lot will shift over the next month everywhere. I think the cost of college, honestly, is overblown simply so they can provide scholarships to make it appear more worthy. Sort of like going into Nordstrom and finding a designer dress that’s on major sale, for a price that should’ve been the original price anyway.

This is a very good perspective that I hadnt thought about!

My daughter is in a sorority at Clemson, they’re huge! Tons of parties, formals etc. There are more than 2 bars (my girl loves the bar scene). So far she’s had over a dozen friends and family members visit, several more than once (and we live 12 hours away). She’s a rising senior and feels like she’s living in paradise. Getting back and forth has been easy, she’s driven, and has flown in and out of Greenville, charlotte and Atlanta, Asheville is 1 1/2 hours away. Clemson offers free airport shuttles around the holidays. Team spirit is incredible, weather is nice, her advisors are awesome. It wasn’t her cheapest option, but she fell in love instantly. ETA we live 10 miles from manhattan, my kids go into the city often, plus Hoboken and the Jersey shore, so it’s not like she’s from a rural area.

Looking back, I’m certain I used the wrong words when I said they weren’t “strong.” I meant they don’t have houses. Not in a traditional sense anyway.

Living in the northeast, many campuses don’t have sorority houses, I know they didn’t exist at my college. Clemson has sorority dorms instead. There are 13 sororities with 1500 girls.

I get what you’re saying. I grew up in NJ. But living in TN, the south is known for them. But that being said, Alabama’s Greek life is the reason there was no way my daughter was going to Alabama. Clemson is probably better off without the big ostentatious houses. More likely to just enjoy the sorority itself and not the image.

So are we thinking we may see more merit go out today?

I’ve been checking all day but no changes to daughters portal. My guess is now next week more should come out. I was told by someone at the school that not all merit has been released yet.

Reading back thru thread it looks like the previous merit scholarship batch was released on Monday, so maybe it’s always released on Mondays.

Called and was told I would not be receiving merit. Didn’t say I would in my letter so not super surprising but unfortunately takes Clemson out of the running I think.

I have a colleague who works in Admissions and she told me today that all merit aid has been awarded, but need-based aid would still be awarded later because of the FAFSA issues this year.

Do you mind sharing if your child qualified according to chart posted a few days ago showing OOS merit qualification for minimum amount of $6500 was 3.8 UW, Top 10%, ACT 29+?

I know frenchwillow’s source said all merit has been issued. However, my source has told me that there is still some merit to be awarded.

I’m said child lol. I have low gpa of 3.44 UW (guessing that’s what sealed my deal), school doesn’t rank, however I have a 1520 sat

Lol. I was in parent mode and assumed everyone in thread was a parent. I should have known better. Btw, even though it didn’t translate to Clemson merit, what a great SAT score - very impressive! Sounds like possibly a private college prep HS without the class rank.

Pretty good public school. Send a decent number of kids to T25 although this years class has been very good.

My gpa is low due to freshman and sophomore year, but since then it’s been a wonderful upwards trend that I think helped me in this cycle.

Did you get more merit? We did not see anything if there was a second round.

Unfortunately, haven’t heard anything more yet. I’m still being told it should be coming and I know it won’t be in form of traditional financial aid. I’ll post when we hear something one way or another. Plan is to have daughter call this week.
