Clemson Class of 2029 Official Thread

yes, everywhere else actually. I guess I’m between UofSC, Penn State, and UTampa now

All great choices! All different from one another, but all offer something special and unique. You are going to be perfectly fine—better than fine even! I promise. Best of luck to you.

this is true. however, compared to CU-Boulder and some other OOS schools, tuition and fees are somewhat more manageable, and cost of living (off-campus rent) is much more affordable even compared to some other regional schools. our cost of attendance went down about $5K from 1st to 2nd year (dorms/meal plan to off campus). When all of this is factored in, even without significant merit/scholarship, it is somewhat favorable compared to other OOS options

personally, I think this may be a better major option and could be parlayed into a biochem, biology, microbio, or genetics major at clemson (if you choose to attend), rather than health sciences. The former are traditional and recognized, and perhaps more grounded in a topic that can transition to a graduate program or profession, should health sciences (e.g. medical, dental, or related school) not work out, for whatever reason. Just my opinion, or at least my way of saying that the alternate major admittance may not be such a bad thing

Deferred in EA/Admitted Summer Start
OOS- Psych major TO / 3.7uw / 4.4w

I won’t be accepting because I’m between two other options, so maybe I can free up a waitlist spot :love_letter:

Accepted summer start, OOS deferred from
EA, business, TO, 3.8 UW, strong ECs, legacy

Business

FWIW, if you really wanted to go for it, you could reach out to the department of education at Clemson or your specific admission officer and ask if there’s anything you can do. There’s also applying for Spring 26 but I know that’s hard. These things make no sense sometimes, but I do believe you’ll be successful wherever you go!! You care, and that’s the most important thing, especially for future educators. :revolving_hearts:

We have the same question!

EA defer, now waitlisted, very good stats, oos . Got into other prestigious business schools as direct admit, disappointed in this outcome. Along with the “continued interest” button there is a “change major” link that we haven’t clicked on, but was curious if it actually is an active link. Did anyone else have that option? I feel like they are pushing these summer and spring starts. It’s really just not ideal and not sure the logic behind it. Ultimately the student population numbers will still be the same so why not just staff accordingly to allow people Fall start. Some kids need the summer to wrap up their high school friendships, and starting in spring is a disadvantage when establishing your groups.

My daughter’s also has ‘change major’ and she is tempted to change her major as it is a live link. Just trying to decide if that will actually help any. Kind of stinks since she has an older sibling there and good stats. Was hoping she would have at least gotten bridge.

Congrats! My son was accepted EA but with no merit, at least not mentioned in the acceptance letter. It was a little surprising considering he has a 4.0uw and a 35 ACT and based on previous posts and other threads, merit seems to be based off scores. So, although you have to wait, hopefully the merit made it worthwhile!

My daughter pays $1500 a month for her room in a 3 bedroom.

What majors did she apply to as first choice and second choice? If both are restricted/capped majors (like nursing or Health Science) then changing her major might be helpful.

She did early childhood education and psychology. Should have really picked business since it is so big.

This was posted by someone else a few months ago on one of the Clemson board. It might be worth changing to a major not on either list below.

Closed majors:
Communication
Construction science and management
Health science (all concentrations)
Language and international health
Nursing
Sports communication

Restricted majors (subject to space restrictions):
Architecture
Art
Business.
Education (all majors)
Engineering
Graphic communication
Landscape architecture
Performing arts (music, audio technology and theatre)
Psychology
Visual art

For those people on the waitlist, anyone receiving an offer will be told at the beginning of June. All at one time.

Thank you this is great

What is a closed major?
