Congratulations!
Where else is your kid looking? Mine has South Carolina, UT, UVA and VT next (we’re from Virginia, so in state for the last too).

Congratulations!!
Your daughter has such an interesting profile! What other threads might be run into e/o at??
Now our attention turns to Cornell ED for next week ![]()
Her other apps are at UD (as you know), University of Michigan, UVA, and UMass Amherst.
How about you?
Also UVA
. We’re from Virginia so applying there is mandatory. My son says he’ll go there if he has to. Your daughter probably feels the same way about Amherst.
The others are Virginia Tech, University of South Carolina - a sleeper fave - and UT Austin.
And lastly, the school that shall not be named. I don’t want to conjure it into existence, but it’s in California and rejects absolutely everybody these days. They release their REA decision tomorrow.
He might apply to a couple of others RD (Lehigh is on the list, maybe Rice), but with two solid options already he may be less motivated now.
Yup, Amherst is just an obligatory application from her perspective, though it’s a great school!
She also had Lehigh as a maybe for RD. CU boulder was another RD potential. But like your son, she is feeling like she’d rather just go with one of the solid choices she has than complete any more apps!
Daughter accepted OOS for Business, Fall start. 1410 SAT, 9 APs , 4.0 UW GPA, top 10%.
What if your school doesn’t offer AP classes? Does Clemson account for this? Daughter is in all honors classes and DE. 4.4/3.9 GPA. 31 ACT. Deferred.
Yay!!
Your school sends a report detailing what is offered to your students in terms of AP and Honors classes, for precisely this reason. So kids who aren’t offered many APs aren’t at a disadvantage to those who have a large number to pick from. At least, that’s what I’ve been told.
Is this anywhere near Hamilton/Wenham?
DD got in for nursing. In-state, 1460 SAT. 5.2/4.0.
Daughter accepted, OOS (IL), highly ranked/competitive HS; 3.62/4.7W; 34 ACT superscore.
Daughter accepted - business. OOS (CA). 4.0/4.3, athlete/captain, well rounded.
Nope, kind of the opposite side of the state, out west near the Vermont border.
Daughter Accepted
- OOS (CA, Bay Area)
Criminal Justice
3.54UW/3.69W, 6 AP/H, 1420 SAT
8 community college DE courses - we were not sure how those would be factored in by Clemson, but all together brings her to a 4.07W.
We were expecting a deferral, so this was a big surprise! It’s her #1 and she is thrilled! Go Tigers!!!

DD accepted! Pre-business OOS. 4.8w, 31 ACT, 11 AP, 3 DE, varsity capt, SGA leadership, tons of work experience. No mention of merit.
Shocking with those stats, especially with others posting acceptances with significantly lower stats.
Daughter accepted for Nursing! OOS, test optional, 3.97uw/4.35w (not sure of Clemson recalculated weighted GPA), 8/221, Rural Recognition award, strong EC’s supporting major choice. Honestly, we expected a rejection or deferral especially due to major choice and since she only had two years of language due to scheduling issues. Still somewhat stunned…
After being deferred from Santa Clara, daughter was accepted EA Clemson - numbers wise, doesn’t make a ton of sense, but what does in this process?!? (OOS for both)
Its all about luck! Son waiting to hear from USC, do I think he’ll get deferred because he only has a 4.3, and has a competitive bunch of kids applying from his school (OOS)? Yes! Does he have a chance? Yes! Its all a game. These schools also want boys, USC is practically 60-40.
