Clemson University Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

Accepted OOS. Engineering. 3.78 uw / 4.27 w. 1460 SAT. Shocked that she was not deferred. She is a NMSF and had lots of engineering related ECs and internships so maybe this helped.

Congrats, that is amazing!! Son was deferred with similar stats, but for Health Science. OOS, TO, 3.96uw/4.47w. Apparently Health Science is extremely competitive/limited, we didn’t know this.

Just to confirm, are there any OOS EA acceptances with mention of merit in their letters? If not, this is a departure from years past. Edit, I came across a thread on reddit asking the same thing. Someone with ā€œknowledgeā€ said that they knew someone in the admissions office, and if merit wasn’t mentioned, you will be reconsidered during regular decision. I don’t know if there’s weight to that or not. I just find it odd that not a single person on here has mentioned merit. If anyone ends up talking to the financial aid office and gets a different answer let us know. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Congrats on the acceptance! We are OOS and there was no mention in our letter. I was wondering if there is a sense of when the amount of merit aid will be announced, based on previous years.

Thanks! You too. Typically not until much later in the process, like when financial aid packages come out in March. Things could change, you never know.

I haven’t seen anyone here or on Facebook forums in on say anything about merit being mentioned in the letters.

Same

Daughter from out of state got into Business with a 4.6 weighted GPA, 3.85 unweighted. She did not report scores. IB student with high rigor (ex. IB Calc.), good ECs, internship.

Did anyone get in for architecture? My OOS son was deferred for architecture. I’d love to hear stats from someone who got in.

DD deferred, OOS, 3.75 weighted GPA out of 4.0 (not sure how Clemson recalculated her GPA), 8 AP classes (3 with 4s and a 5, then taking 4 more this year), 7 additional Honors classes, tons of ECs, including Varsity track (4 years) and Theater (4 years), +part time job during school year. Didn’t report SAT scores. Applied as a Business/Marketing major.

Hoping for good news in the spring!

Did anyone get in OOS in Health Science? Deferred here, I guess it is a competitive major.

OOS (Colorado) Daughter accepted with business focus. 4.6 GPA, 10 APs, solid resume and recs, service, varsity sport, AP scholar with distinction. Didn’t submit test score (1320). Deferred from Auburn and UGA so really relieved and excited for Clemson.

My daughter was also deferred for OOS in Health Science. Seems from reading this thread there were lots of pre-business acceptances but not a lot of Health Sciences? Is it possible they deferred a ton of Health Science applications? Daughter had 1380 SAT and 3.6 UW. Good luck to all the deferred kiddos out there!

Sorry to barge in, but I do think Clemson is a harder admit than people realize and that’s accelerated with popularity.

Last cycle, per CDS, they had a 38.3% admit rate. On top of that, they wait listed over 11,000 - which isn’t fair because they give a lot of kids late false hope. But colleges do that in case they fall short. They WL for them, not you. They WL an astouding and ridiculous (IMHO) 18%. Last year, they took 112.

In calculating GPA as the state of SC does, 86% have over a 4.0.

The point being - Clemson is a very tough get - so if you don’t get in, there’s no shame. It really has become a difficult admit.

Best of luck in the RD round.

It’s wild how some low stats are in versus higher. Makes no rhyme or reason -definitely this school has turned us off especially because they wouldn’t tell my son if they recalculated his UW gpa, and were actually rude about it ! Knowing some people that go here that got NO merit, or aid, and they made their kid go summer and pay a LOT in order to go! It’s a big withdraw for us !!! Sorry Clemson, not sorry!

The test optional is surprising me too. But, I now see testing changed from ā€œvery importantā€ to ā€œimportantā€ between the 22/23 and 23/24 common data sets.

Our student was accepted - logging int the admissions portal, it looks very different- it now has tabs fr honors (pending) and events etc.

My daughter from Maryland has the same exact stats and did test optional as well. Lots of AP and IB courses, clubs aligned with major, and 4 yr varsity athlete. Business Major too! Congrats!

Hi! Have any accepted students received scholarship information in the acceptance letter? Or does it come later.
