I am wondering if everyone got the same deferral email?? Our email stated that no further action is required. However, we wrote an update stating a brief update. Some people reported they received something from the school asking them to report first semester grades and if they wanted to be considered for summer?? We had indicated that on the common application when we applied. Does anyone have any input on this? Was this sent by email from the school or was this in your kid’s portal???
Twins were also deferred (OOS) and it sounds like we received the same email that you did. I believe we also said they would be interested in Summer Start on Common App. We haven’t been asked for grades or summer. I think mine are leaning toward TN or Auburn anyway but not feeling super hopeful about Clemson right now. ![]()
Was this a separate email from the original email that came out a few hours after decisions last month? In the portal where you could write a statement of continued interest, there was a question about whether or not you wanted to be considered for summer start or not. Is this what you are referring to? - or a different more recent email? If you mean a separate email that came more recently then no, my deferred son did not receive it. But he did submit LOCI form on 12/22 and marked no for summer start.
My D26 received the same “no further action is needed” and has chosen not to do anything else and just wait it out and see.
D26 is already committed to Auburn and at this point, pretty sure an admission in the RD round from Clemson will not sway her. The only + Clemson has over Auburn for her is that their nursing program is direct admit and Auburn’s is not. With how extremely competitive Clemson’s nursing program is, it is unlikely she will get in anyway.
We are doing the same!
This is the proper response. They are dealing with too many apps as it is - and interest etc. is not relevant.
You are now RD is all.
You’re saying that the LOCI is not relevant?
I find that hard to believe.
If you have something to add (new job, new EC, etc) - than you can add.
You don’t need an LOCI. You are not wait listed. You are simply in regular decision.
If it makes you feel better, go ahead but it’s clearly not needed. Big public school….zillions of apps….you’re one of them.
Defer Decision
I was deferred. What are my next steps?
There is nothing else that you need to do at this point. Your application file is already complete for Regular Decision review.
If there is any additional information you want us to consider as part of the Regular Decision group, you can provide it through an optional form. The optional Defer Form will be in your Clemson admissions portal. It should be completed no later than January 10.
Exactly. So if I’m an AO there and I have a gazillion RD applications to review, I’d prioritize those that bothered to send an LOCI today they’re actually interested.
Maybe it helps maybe it doesn’t. But in the spectrum of low effort to potential reward, this one seems like a no-brainer to me.
Or… you can’t follow directions. ![]()
As I noted, if it makes you feel good, it’s fine.
On a different thread so different school but same state (u of sc) someone posted they wrote in and got a won’t be considered reply.
If you have something new to add, Clemson left that door open with their form.
Good luck no matter what you choose to do.
Oh, we’ve chosen. ![]()
It is following directions. If you haven’t something new to add, think of something. ![]()
The directions said that students were welcome to submit ‘any additional information you want us to consider’ - I say it’s a lost opportunity not to share updates on ECs, grades, awards - whatever. In a game of inches - which this certainly is - why not give it all you’ve got?
That’s different than an LOCI.
But yes I agreed, if it makes you happy. But make them meaningful. They have a lot to get through. You don’t want them rolling the eyes.
The question was - do we need an LOCI? The answer is no.
That’s all. You can do as you want. No issue.
You’ll likely be evaluated on the initial. No decision has been rendered. People take deferral to = rejection but it’s not. That’s WL but not deferral.
Clemson Honors priority decisions are being released today at 6pm EST (it was on their FB story)
Does this mean kids accepted RD are not eligible for honors?
Maybe the “priority” is that they are EA admitted students. I can’t imagine RD students would not be eligible.
Ok, thanks. Looks like they go into the honors equivalent of RD.
My son just checked his portal. He has not received an email but there was a link to click for an update to his Honors application - he was accepted to the Honors College. He is not sure what he’s doing yet. Waiting on scholarship info from other places - our biggest beef with Clemson is they don’t tell you the scholarship amount until very late in the game. Good luck to everyone.
